Its a shame really....I mean I know MaccyD is wazzocked by most of the trendy jogging woke brigade here in the west, but the company really has a worthy track record in transforming a range of social and business environments in developing countries....seriously....don't laugh.....I mean look at Russia (I went to Murmansk in the mid-80s and stayed in the only hotel...the only meal was grey chicken....holly crap!!!) Anyway prior to MaccyD rocking up in Moscow (wasn't it a commercial venture by MaccyD Canada??), there was pretty much bugger all in the way of a service industry in Russia...or even any service....and standards of food hygiene were shudderingly appalling or in most cases non-existent.

Supply chains for all types of commerce were primitive in the extreme and MaccyD pretty much on its own, pioneered and jump-started the western concept of consumer service - everything from ethical sourcing of products, through logistics, quality control, restaurant architecture, modern HR processes and customer-facing presentation...basically everything!!.

In particular, MaccyD recruited and trained thousands and thousands of youngsters, many of whom went on to create their own food and retail businesses. Prior to there arrival there were just a handful of small grotty soviet style cafes in Moscow that were just about the only way of getting a safe-ish snack. Nowadays (or at least until this year) Russian cities are teeming with western-style cafe and restaurant culture, shopping malls and arcades. That was all seeded by MaccyD and promulgated by its trainees. IMHO, MaccyDs closing is truly a symbol of Russia's giant leap backwards.......

The best breakfast in the world...in the history of breakfasts....anywhere......is the MaccyD Bacon and Egg McMuffin.....

I’m seeing reports that some wounded members of Azov steel plant defenders surrendered to be exchanged for captured Russian soldiers.
Looks like there is some agreement in place that would allow the defenders to surrender to be exchanged for Russians. Tomorrow they’ll continue with this move.

I think this was a wise decision - defenders of Mariupol did an excellent job grinding Russians, there is no reason for them to stay there and die while completely surrounded. They should be exchanged for Russian captives and used elsewhere.

Sadly, they don’t have that many options. Ive seen a few officials saying that Ukraine would lose more troops fighting for this group than the number of troops in that steel plant. With resources running out, and the reality of having to wait another couple of months for Ukrainian army to come back would condemn them to slow and painful deaths from their wounds or from thirst or starvation. They ran out of anesthesia - they had to perform amputations and surgeries on their wounded without any painkillers.
    It is what it is.
But hey, Ukraine did destroy 2 BTGs at that river crossing a few days ago. :)

Everything doesn't add up because you're not being told everything. First of all the dream of the Western Ukrainians has always been to enter Europe and as refugees they were able to do so, something they weren't able to do before. Actually it was the only reason they wanted to be a part of the EU since Western Ukraine had always been a poor area.

As for Russia, they have been taking in refugees from Ukraine for 8 years. If I recall correctly two and a half million entered in 2014 and because of the influx they were only able to take in 20 thousand Syrians since they don't have a welfare system and everyone has to be placed.

There was also a constant influx of economic migrants from Ukraine since they do speak Russian. Besides that, they didn't want to be killed by the neo nazis since they have found many mass unmarked graves in the Lugansk areas under the Ukrainians. Other than that, the conscripts were being poorly trained and unarmed compared to the 'nationalists' from Western Ukraine who were trained by Americans, and so they didn't want to end up as cannon fodder. Nor did they want to kill their own people.

Recently I read that many of them had moved into the Donetsk and Lugansk Peoples Republics rather than Russia, which would account for the reason they're able to have such a large fighting force. Also that one of the reasons the Ukrainian army consists of so many neo nazis, is because so many Ukrainian men left.

As for why there aren't any refugees leaving for Russia from cities like Mariupol, well according to the residents that did get out they couldn't leave their basements for fear of being shot at by Azov, even though a safe corridor was opened.

Anyway the peoples ordeal is now over, and they are free and able to celebrate Russia's Victory over the Nazis in WWII. They are finally going home. :applause: Enjoy!

The shiit is hiting the fan big time in Russia.

This is from the Russia State TV.

Francis Scarr on Twitter: "In an extremely rare moment of candour on Russian state TV today, defence columnist Mikhail Khodaryonok gave a damning assessment of Russia's war in Ukraine and his country's international isolation. It's fairly long but worth your time so I've added subtitles. https://t.co/0mr7WAgSx6" / Twitter

Who is behind this guy and protects him. Its not Kim Putler, fore sure.

If we get more of this stuff, it points to the future implosion of Russia and maybe the federation.
    The sound of the USSR.

Ukrainian forces say they have fulfilled their "combat mission" in besieged Mariupol

Ukrainian forces said they have ended their "combat mission" in the besieged city of Mariupol, in a new statement.

“The 'Mariupol' garrison has fulfilled its combat mission,” the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said in the statement.

“The Supreme Military Command ordered the commanders of the units stationed at Azovstal to save the lives of their personnel,” the statement read.

“The defenders of Mariupol are heroes of our time. They will forever be marked down in history. This includes the special 'Azov' unit, the 12th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, the 36th Separate Brigade of Marines, border guards, police, volunteers, the Territorial Defense of Mariupol,” the statement read.

“By concentrating the main forces of the enemy around Mariupol, we had the opportunity to prepare and create defensive lines, where our troops stand ready today to repel the aggressor. It provided us critical time to form reserves, regroup forces, and receive assistance from partners,” the statement continued.

“The most important common task of all Ukraine and the whole world is to save the lives of the defenders of Mariupol. We will fight for you on all fronts as faithfully as you defend the state! #stoprussia,” the statement concluded.

In an earlier video, Ukraine's Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malyar made it clear that some defenders remain at the Azovstal steel plant.

A civilized nation wouldn't be using its reserve currency to sanction other nations and telling them who they should trade with and who they shouldn't trade with. But that's okay, it's not going to be the reserve currency for too much longer. Washington signed the dollars death warrant.

As for Russia, it's economy is doing great. Europe though is being destroyed - but then again that might be Washington's intent. Not that some of those countries don't deserve it. Hubris always precedes a fall.

The latest EU freak out to add to all their other economic woes, is that India doesn't have enough wheat to sell them. Ah yes, bread. What a staple it is.

Anyway Russia is quite generous and does a good job of supporting its friendly nations. Now they'll have enough fertilizer and grain and not have to suffer the famines that Washington has tried to bring on with its sanctions.

Ukrainian troops pinned down by Russian fire in key frontline village – BBC News

Ukraine says it’s pushed Russian troops right back to the border near the city of Kharkiv.

Ukrainian forces have been counter attacking and retaking territory in the north-east of the country in recent days.

The city of Izyum – known as the Gateway to Donbas – sits above the main body of Ukrainian forces holding back Russia's eastern push.

BBC correspondent Quentin Sommerville is on patrol with the men protecting this critical front line.

I haven't seen any credible evidence from the Ukrainian side apart from hear say and cheap propaganda. On the other hand, I have seen plenty of interviews with the captured Ukrainian soldiers where they admitted all sorts of crimes. Rape, torture, sadistic beatings etc....One Ukrainian officer raped wife in front of her husband and when the poor chap told him to stop he simply executed him and continued raping a woman.

That's all nice but you are barking at the wrong tree. The full responsibility for the carnage destruction and death lies with the U.S foreign policy makers. They forced Ukrainians into their own proxy war against Russia. Human scum-neocons are counting money from arms sales while Ukrainians are dying for nothing.

What the hell are you talking about. Putin attacked without provocation. He has slaughtered countless civilians and leveled cities.

Stop trying to defend a war criminal. It makes you look as bad as him.

I am interested in understanding the reasons for the Invasion from the Russian perspective. Do you have a link that summarizes it?
