Smoking isn't a right and you'll never be able to demonize gun owners in the same way.

"We're going to demonize you so you can't hang out with us". That's a feature, not a bug.

I'm not understanding what you're asking. But I can say - since joining PF - I've read many, many posts from members who are gun enthusiasts. They are very knowledgeable and seem to love their guns. I've read posts about how enjoyable it is to shoot an automatic weapon at the range. That's what I'm talking about as a 'gun culture'. Not a bunch of thugs who are using their guns to kill, but people who love their guns.

It's hard to distance shame. You'd have to do that locally. Do you associate now with any gun owners? Work with any?

I don't know if he really does. The contingent in a gun crowd that he's referring to has always been there and they always will be there they are a minority.

I actually know enough people in the gun community and I'm part of it myself to know that most gun owners agree with him about guns not being toys. What's interesting and it seems like bow here is being manipulative when he overlooks this is it was the gun crowd that told him that.

I don't think his prediction about the gun debate changing will come to pass because the AR-15 is not the most popular rifle in the country because the military uses it. The military never used that gun. I have a 30-06 that's magazine fed and it's way more powerful than an AR-15 AK-47s have existed for 70 years they're not more powerful but they do fire a heavier or damaging projectile in short range.

I think what Bo is saying is really just to appeal to people like you.

It doesn't matter if the woman has a gun on her person. An armed woman is less likely to be injured if they are attacked.

I live in Australia - I don’t have to carry a gun. No one I know carries a gun - well, unless they are out shooting feral animals

Here gunshot injury is so rare we just about have to ring you lot for medical advice!! And self defence should NOT rely on a gun because you cannot be armed 24/7

Good for you. A lot of people who share your view tend to change their mind once violence visits itself upon them in areas where they felt safe.

    Yes, I am armed 24/7.

Wow! That would make taking a shower interesting and I am not going there with love making!

It must be terribly inconvenient to have to be armed all the time not to mention the fear level driving you to do so.

No one there has a gun
In fact walk down any Aussie street and the only people with guns are security guards and cops

If we had politicians who didn't pander to criminals, we would be a lot safer.

That's because the anti-gunners hype them up to be a super weapon.

Are you SURE it is the “anti gunners”? Because it is not them telling me they need a military style weapon for self defence

And those poor little kids had to be identified by DNA alone

Sounds as though you view weapons as toys to be enjoyed at the range.

Bullshit. There is no possible way that every victim had to be identified by DNA. More likely is that the DNA was used for early positive identification so the parents didn't have to immediately see there dead children.

Despite what you might believe, the 55 grain FMJ doesn't blast victims to pieces.

Okay depends on your definition of “mass shooting” and of course the definition of “assault weapon” so let us just say “guns that are rapid fire high powered (more than a handgun” you know the BIG guns - ones that there is no rational reason for an eighteen year old to own. The type Australia banned - you know that place with all the mass shootings/ sarcasm

No but they had to ask the parents for DNA samples - does it matter if EVERY victim was not so mutilated?
I won’t post pictures but google “gunshot would trauma and refine it to images. The high power high velocity bullets basically blow tissue apart and disrupt in a shock wave soft tissue around it. I know I have seen it in real life and there is a smell, which is indescribable

Handguns are and have always been the the commonly used firearms in mass shootings of any commonly used definition. Mostly 9mm, just like the kind that Australia stills allows people to own.

Why did they ask every parent fir DNA?

    Google "12 gauge wound".

There isn't any such thing as "more dead".
