Not a terribly surprising result, and it's kinda hard to root against Ukraine right now. Should be a good match against Wales on Sunday....
Considering the current condition Ukraine was amazing and had a well deserved victory. 4th of June the Nations Cup games start, with Italy and Germany
I couldn't watch the match, but one would think that Ukraine is playing inspired ball right now, somewhat like Denmark did in the Euros after Christian Eriksen went down. Speaking of Eriksen, I'm amazed he's still playing. How wonderful is that?
Beautiful...the USMNT finally broke through... Tonight is fun but Sunday's match against Uruguay will be more of a test....
Very satisfying win for the USMNT against Morocco last night - 3-0. They were back in good form.... I still think Matt Turner is our best goalie and he showed why last night. Finally, it was great to see Tim Weah score a goal. He's been so good setting up his teammates but last night he was finally able to blast one in himself. Hopefully, we'll carry this momentum into Sunday's matchup against Uruguay...
Italy vs Argentine in Wembly. 0:3. Italy sucked big time. That was not a good warm up for the NL this weekend.
Ouch. Man, have the wheels fallen off the Azzurri's wagon since they won the Euros. Germany fans must be licking their chops...
Italy Germany has history, a real rivalry, every game a derby. I am looking forward to that game. I think we lost @Center Field, but his heart must be bleeding.
Italy vs Germany was a sleeping pill. Just 5 minutes were interesting. Italy scored first in the second half, pissed Germany off and 2 minutes later Germany scored. Otherwise a crap game
Another lacklustre game in a lacklustre championship. England lucky to get out with a draw after Germany were dominant for most of the game. 1-1
It was nice to see Wales and Bale finally get in after all these years. They'll be our first opponent in the WC.
Yeah, I wasted about an hour of my life watching that game. I was really expecting more out of Germany given the circumstances...
As for the USMNT's WC tune-up against Uruguay, our boys played pretty well against a solid opponent but we were reminded of our problems at center forward and with set pieces. I don't know who and how the No. 9 position is going to get solved but it needs to get fixed soon. I think we can solve our set piece problem by putting Kellyn Acosta back on the kicks and moving Pulisic back out on the receiving end where he would serve us better, but will Berhalter make the move??
With everybody in I guess it's time to post the WC bracket: Full Schedule: https://digitalhub.fifa.com/m/53827...hedule_v34b_11082022_EN_international-use.pdf TV Schedule USA (Fox & FS1): https://static.foxtv.com/www.foxtv.com/content/uploads/2022/08/FIFA_World_Cup_Qatar_2022.pdf Games begin November 20....
Football is educational in one way. It demonstrates to many that Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Eire and England regard themselves as separate entities. Many around the world struggle to assimilate the distinction and call the cluster of islands off northwest Europe ‘England’. I saw a YouTube video where an American thought ‘Europe’ was a country rather than a continent.
Not all Americans are ignorant. You do realize that we have here some of the best universities in the world, right? You do too (Cambridge, Oxford, etc) but we also have them (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, Duke, UC Berkeley, MIT, etc).
There are knowledgeable people everywhere, and they don’t even have had to go to university. Mind you University tends to be for a small proportion of any population. I would certainly explore the notion of ‘best’. My son went to Oxford and daughter in law to Cambridge, but those places are not what I would call ‘best’. After all that verminous piece of scum Boris Johnson was not improved by going to Oxford, he graduated and has almost single handedly destroyed the United Kingdom. He represents the worst of the Oxbridge entitled graduates, nothing like the best, see also Ghislaine Maxwell. In a random group of twenty Americans do you think more than about three would know the difference between Scotland, England, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom and Great Britain, would they care anyway?
Only since 1996 when the song was first released. I'll be right one day. The Lionesses brought it home after all.
Yes, I do. Do you actually think that 17 out of 20 Americans are ignorant? You're full of stereotypical views of America. Have you ever been to America? Almost 40% (37.9% of those 25 years old or older) of the American population is made of college graduates. I think it would be hard to find a college graduate who doesn't know what the United Kingdom stands for, that England is not the entire UK, that the Republic of Ireland is an independent country that is not part of the UK, etc., including, in the context of all the news about Brexit. Hell, most high school graduates know it too (90% of the population), since we do study Geography here, you know? There will always be the heavily edited YouTube videoclip interviewing some simpletons and pretending that all Americans (or most Americans) are like this. Shame on you for believing in those stereotypes. Source: https://www.statista.com/statistics/184260/educational-attainment-in-the-us/
