"Nov 16 (Reuters) - Initial findings suggest that the missile that hit Poland was fired by Ukrainian forces at an incoming Russian missile, Associated Press reported on Wednesday, citing U.S. officials."

"WARSAW, Poland (AP) — In earlier versions of a story published November 15, 2022, The Associated Press reported erroneously, based on information from a senior American intelligence official who spoke on condition of anonymity, that Russian missiles had crossed into Poland and killed two people. Subsequent reporting showed that the missiles were Russian-made and most likely fired by Ukraine in defense against a Russian attack."

Well, Ron, sure they did. But so did our own officials and our media.

But at least Polish Officials still get angry when they're lied to...

"Now the former chairman of the city council of Lublin, the seat of the region where Przewodow is located, is calling for Poland to rethink its approach to the war in light of the incident.

Having up until now been a staunch supporter of Ukraine, Jaroslaw Pakula said the missile accident showed Warsaw needed to send a blunt message to Kiev rather than telling its own citizens “fairy tales.”

“Of course, this is a Ukrainian rocket. Of course, this is a provocation on the part of the Ukrainian authorities,” Pakula posted on his Facebook page.""
    ...
"“The rocket could not be fired 100km in the opposite direction by mistake,” he added, asserting that the incident was an attempt to scare the EU into sending more money to Ukraine.

Demanding that Warsaw should “no longer put up with this behavior” from Ukraine, Pakula remarked, “I urge you to rethink Poland’s position [regarding] this war in the event that the red line is crossed again!”"

Pakula seems to think this was an intentional act on the part of Ukraine. Unless there is actual evidence of that, Occam's razor would lead me to believe it was simply an accident, however it was an accident that Zelenskyy took advantage of. He's been pretty clear that he wants to drag NATO into the war, and from his perspective, it's a gambit worth trying to pull off to save his country.

Ruskies shouldn't mess with Poland unless they want their gas pipelines 100% obliterated instead of just temporarily sidelined. Polish people remember what Hitler and Stalin did to them.

Well, an attack on Poland is an attack on NATO. Russia would have a lot more to worry about than gas pipelines in that scenario. We all would...

Ya, of course more evidence is certainly required. I'm not sure what Pakula's claim of "rocket could not be fired 100km in the opposite direction by mistake" means, but it seems a bit odd to me that a single 'miss' with a (presumably) SAM managed to accidentally kill two people on the ground, that far away. Not impossible... just unlikely.

You mean Russia will blow up more of it's own pipelines?
