<THREAD TITLE EDITED TO MATCH LINKED ARTICLE> It’s amazing how the liberal elitist mind works. While they are regulating lobster fishermen out of business, they are purchasing hundreds of lobsters for a state dinner. I’m sure liberal elites see no hypocrisy here. https://www.newsweek.com/democrat-ca...-1763982?amp=1 "If the Biden White House can prioritize purchasing 200 Maine lobsters for a fancy dinner, @POTUS should also take the time to meet with the Maine lobstermen his administration is currently regulating out of business," Representative Jared Golden, who represents Maine's 2nd Congressional District, tweeted Wednesday
I would agree that there would be hypocrisy if they were purchasing lobsters that violated regulations.
Well, given that Alaska has canceled the upcoming Ophilio Crab season and has put severe limits on king crabs this season, I am not too sure. this is about a lot of things, least of which is climate change and the warming of the earth's ocean temperatures.
No one is saying that. What is happening is as earth's ocean temperatures rise, aka global warming, it is affecting marine life in certain ways, the least of which is lobsters and crabs.
That’s not the case here. The ocean temps in those fishing grounds has remained the same since records have been kept . This isn’t a climate change issue. Government is regulating these fishermen out of business because an occasional whale gets entangled in a pot line. But not enough whales are being killed to deny elitists their lobster dinners. Just the rest of us.
Right whales are critically endangered. Changing regulations to protect them is a good thing. I live in Maine and love me some lobster, but I’m more then willing to pay a little more if it will be more sustainable. Or stop eating it altogether if that is the best solution. Maine fishermen can adapt to the changes. whales are an important part of those ecosystems, and lobster will ultimately benefit from nutrients provided by an increased whale population.
Lobster fishing is not killing off the whale population. You’ll gladly pay more for lobster if it will be more sustainable? How does raising the price make it more sustainable? People like you use the word sustainable because you learned that word through rote thinking. still this thread is about he hypocrisy demonstrated by Biden and his cadre of li real elites.
Biden is openly mocking Americans. He has been doing it almost his entire life and getting away with it.
Brandon says... who care a shyte about whales, and wolfs down the crustaceans.... All the while, his regulatory state is attacking the suppliers of his dinner. What a tone deaf load brandon is these days.
Why Not? Does anybody actually care about whether Whole Foods stopped selling Maine Lobster? Gimme, Gimme, Gimme Lobster!
Well since I only eat it about once a year or so I'd like to have it sometimes. Of course you're overlords would rather we eat insects.
You asked why we have lobster fishermen did you not? Or was it a straw man you meant to create and did you really mean to ask him why he hates lobster fishermen? Kind of a when will you stop beating your dog sort of question?
Yes, there is more than one issue at work. But, that just means that there are multiple reasons for regulation of fisheries. Or, are you suggesting that there be no regulatory attempt to address overharvesting?
I haven't yet seen any rational attempt to pitch there being hypocrisy here. That idea turned into partisan schlock.
Agreed, FB... I might eat it once (or twice) a year...in a Restaurant.. Preferably on somebody else's dime... who is paying the check... Huh? What "overlords"? What are you referring to? I DON'T have " overlords"... ...I am my Own Person, and I DON'T Have "overlords"... In fact, even the implication (and insiniuation) that I (or any other PF member) may have "overlords" is Disrespectful (and Beyond Insulting)... "you're overlords"?
