Did she claim more than just being part native american . . . which she is. It's a pathetic claim, but accurate. She deserves a whole heap of criticism for it, but this dude is making objectively false claims about his past, not just playing up ****.

    thank- you

After hearing some of the congressional Republicans excuse this twit I had thought ethics might no longer be part of…..

thank- you again  It takes courage to admit one of “your side” is not who or what you would want them to be

And that is why it is so important to take a stand and say “this is not acceptable” to lies grift and cheating

As for being a ‘white heterosexual male” you can only lose by excluding all others

Santos - Politican. False Claim to be Jewish.

Warren - Politican. False Claim to be an American Indian (Bar registration card).

    Right. No equivalency here. lol

Right. See, there's some truth to Warren's statement, and none to many of the claims Santos made, including employing people who were killed at Pulse Nightclub, and a **** ton of others.

But this topic, is neither of those. IOW, to start talking about Biden, is really just deflection from the topic, at hand. We have a lying Republican, who will most likely be seated in the House, if, for no other reason, because he says he supports McCarthy for Speaker, and Kevin needs every vote he can get. You are trying to compare that to a Democrat who won a seat in state government (not that this makes his lying any more dishonorable) but who, when his lies came out, at least had the decency to resign. So it doesn't seem like much more needs be said, in that case.

My own mind cannot help but associate this with almost Senator, Hershel Walker, who was a smokestack of lies-- that were known before the election-- and yet who still received many Republican votes. It is hard, not to get the impression that big, blatant lies are more acceptable, generally, among the Republican base, and to our national Republican Party politicians, than they are, among Democrats. Many of the so called "lies" of Democrats, cited by Republicans, here, are either unproven, or matters more of interpretation, than of outright lying. And when there is some stretching of the truth, and they are called on it, Democrats are far less likely to double down on a falsehood, than those Republicans who espouse fictions. Part of the requirement, still for many (and at one time, for most) national Republicans, is to pretend that Trump won the 2020 election-- so how can you expect honesty, in a Party that has accepted living every day, denying the truth?

Yes, it is regrettable and reprehensible that he did this, but on the Democrat side there is Elizabeth Warren who lied about her ethnic heritage to go far at Harvard and in senatorial politics and Richard Bloomenthal of Connecticut who lied about his military record. Both are still in office and Warren fancies herself as a presidential candidate.

I wish this had not had happened, but watch for the Democrats to blow this up given the the slim majority the Republicans have in the House. If I had been running, I could have claimed credit for an MBA with honors from Rutgers, a middle management position at the old AT&T and a major insurance company, 12 years running my own business and a white Anglo-Saxon back group with a touch of Swedish and maybe a touch of Native American, although I’m not sure about the last claim. Would that have been good enough? It should have been for him.

    Hi, TheAngryLiberal.

After considerable research, I've found that the term 'law abiding gun owner' means someone who owns a gun and hasn't shot anyone with it . . . yet.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well . . . 'n un-shot.

Good, then you have nothing to worry about... except losing weapons you don't need...

    Hi, ButterBalls.

If you were referring to the definition, " someone who owns a gun and hasn't shot anyone with it . . . yet.", I agree whole-heartedly.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well . . . 'n un-shot.

Cleary your research was poorly done. I found much more than just "Hasn't shot anyone yet". Obviously, there is MUCH more to the phrase then what you claim here and your initial post.. Again both post a perfect example of someone that shouldn't own a firearm ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

We're in full agreement on at least one thing. I do not own a firearm. I have no reason to own one which would offset the risk. It's a simple, logical decision. There is no way to undo a life lost to gunshot.

Regards, and stay safe, well' and un-shot.

Clearly the criminals disagree with you! Still, doesn't excuse poor research ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you search “defensive gun usage" (DGU) you’ll find it happens anywhere from 500k – 3.5 million times annually (in the US). The raw numbers come from the CDC, most recently from a study ordered by President Obama in 2013.

While injuries and fatalities resulting from those encounters are delineated, peaceful resolutions are not. Depending on who’s digging into the data, DGUs where the weapon is brandished but not fired & no one is hurt occur anywhere from 200k - 1 million times every year. Whatever the actual tally, it’s not insignificant.

When I was an infant we took a day trip to the mountains and stopped at one of my parents’ favorite spots. During our stay a couple bikers rolled in. Dad could tell they were trouble and loaded wife & kid into the car.

During the load up one of the bikers shouted at dad to “hand over summa that slant-eyed pu$$y.” Loudmouth wheeled his bike about 4 feet off the back bumper and dismounted. He walked to the driver’s side window and leaned in to find himself looking down the barrel of a .357. He and his compadre saddled up and rode off.

25 years later I owned a 1965 Plymouth Barracuda. One day I towed it to a building where I was going to work on it. As I pulled onto the property there were a couple guys about my age sharing a crack pipe. I rolled down the window and said “Hate to tell you guys, but this is private property and you’ll need to clear off.” They both snarled and cursed. One of them picked up a piece of rebar and both advanced. I let them see my pistol and told them to simmer down. Both men split.

In both instances: no shots fired and nobody hurt.

Your choice to be unarmed has no impact on me & mine - more power to you. I'll continue to avail myself of my second amendment rights & CCW privileges, regardless.

Hi for the last time on this thread, ButterBall.

I suspect there are a number of things on which I and criminals disagree. One of them is to obey the law. There are others, some referencing the golden rule.

    Regards, stay safe ' n well 'n un-shot..

    Gonna be interesting...

    It’s a sad reflection of today’s GOP,
though, that I assume that they won’t do any of this. And so far, party leaders have largely stayed silent. Nassau GOP Chair Joe Cairo, one of the few Republican leaders to speak out, said Santos would have to do a lot to regain trust, but added that Santos should be able to serve his term in Congress.
But let’s be clear – Santos is exactly who you don’t want in office. He is a man who seemingly has no problem lying for self-aggrandizement and personal gain; a man who, even when caught, demonstrates little remorse or accountability; a man who still insists that he should be vested with significant political power.
New Yorkers deserve better. And the Republican Party should demand better.

It's a nothing burger. Anyone surprised or outraged over this is naive about politicians in general.

Joe Biden lies every single day, but nobody here wants to call him out.

That said, I do not condone the lies told by this individual. Is resignation necessary? Only yes if it is agreed by all that any congress-person resign when caught in lies. In my book, integrity is everything and lies show disdain for the citizens of this country. I say he should resign, but so should Joe, Kamilla, Nancy, Schumer, and I can keep going through probably 97% of congress.

I suspect that as time goes on, the finances of Representative-elect George Santos will be far more interesting than his prevarications about his background work history and education. We have plenty of examples extant of politicians who said that which was not true, often several times a day for the same politician over periods of years.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well.
