I heard a recording and it was dubious that it passed and Hughes worded it that made it not obvious that it was going to be a complete ban. I knew two of Reagan's white house counsel staff and they were worried that the mainly pro gun bill would die after the 1986 midterms because (as they correctly predicted) the Dems got the senate and these two attorneys-both of whom clerked for Supreme Court justices, figured the courts would strike the clearly unconstitutional poison pill

In 2013, as vice-president of the United States, Joe Biden issued his famous proclamation about what firearm Americans should use to protect themselves: "BUY A SHOTGUN!" Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buy_a_Shotgun

Yes, and in fact, he went on to say that, in his expert opinion, it should be a double-barreled shotgun -- meaning that you have two shots with which to defend yourself from criminals who commit home invasions, robberies, burglaries, etc.

Oh -- Joe didn't mention the fact that the criminals would not (in any spirit of fairness) limit themselves to weapons that can only hold two (TWO) rounds of ammunition before needing to be reloaded. No, John Q. Public could expect his adversaries to be armed a little bit differently....

I see, you are Hollywood educated regarding fire arms, in this case a lesson from Lone Wolf Maquade

so you would be for banning laser guns if ever become portable as a modern gun today?

with time, guns become more advanced, today's guns are much more advanced than the founder's guns of the time

"The Court has held that “the Second Amendment extends, prima facie, to all instruments that constitute bearable arms, even those that were not in existence at the time of the founding,” District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U. S. 570, 582 (2008), and that this “Second Amendment right is fully applicable to the States,” McDonald v. Chicago, 561 U. S. 742, 750 (2010)."

    Caetano v Massachusetts.

yep, I think based on the way the second is written, it would need to be changed, or they would be legal

if you do not want to answer, that is fine

owning a gun is a right, same as speech and religion

when you start saying you have to have the privilege to have a right, they are no longer rights... they are privileges

If you ask the question honestly, w/o a poison pill, I'll be happy to answer.
But that's not your game here.

The 2nd amendment protects the right of the people to own and use all "bearable arms"
This this does not include "every American ", as you asked.
This has nothing to do with the right to the free exercise of religion and free speech, as you asked.

well, we did define it for the purposes of this discussion as a laser gun that one could spin around and chop everyone in half, but yes, by current laws it would be legal

which free Americans should not have the right to free speech, religion and gun ownership

all of those are rights, if you weaken one, you weaken them all

easy test: if a civilian governmental authority allows its civilian employees to use a certain weapon in civilian areas, then that weapon is suitable for other civilians to keep and bear
