Not many successful, respected states today are governed by a religious government. You picked a few states in your post, but the same could be said for all the states of the EU, North America, and many others.

I think you need more than one sentence explanations.

    Of course.

But, I think you would need to say more to make your OP understood.

As it is, it seems to call for a religious government. I'm sure you didn't mean that.

Absolutely. In fact, you don't have to prove how your god compares to all the gods of other religions today or in the past.

But, that doesn't explain your OP.

In the past you have used similar words to decide who has been corrupted - with adherence to your religious beliefs as being the deciding factor.

But, in the US we have religious freedom.

We have religious freedom based on the existence of God who sources our freedom and equality. There are no requirements beyond that.

There are no requirements for religious freedom. The sources of the religious beliefs of individuals may come from ANY source.

Your first reflex is to add requirements based on YOUR god!! That is the fundamental basis for denying religious freedom.

That makes no sense. Your issue is with American freedom. It is stated clearly in the DOI that we are the offspring of one God. Therein resides our right to be free and our equality in freedom. I recognize this fact. If you do not, then that's your issue, not mine. I don't make the rules. I just honor them. Your issue is with God, our founding Fathers, and the birth of the USA.

That was a turn of phrase indicating that humans are all alike.

Our fundamental requirements (thus rights) as humans include various rights.

Suggesting that the DOI defines our nation as seeing YOUR god as the overall god of our nation just doesn't even make sense.

You love the gift of freedom. I love the giver of the gift of freedom. But we both share in the gift. The gift of life is similar. We both share in it. You love life. I love the giver of life. Regardless our differences in belief of origin....yours, that we arrive here by natural selection and that our founding documents are rhetorical, a convenient concept plying the superstitious mindset of mankind for nothing other than the cause of independence. And mine, that it is all the gift of God for the eventuality of our salvation. Nevertheless, we both live and are free to love either our lives or God.

Where you find the gospel of Jesus Christ to be either a delusion to be dismissed or divisive in consideration. I find it a salve to my being. But that it goes to the very foundation of existence, then I suppose it does divide us in spirit. Still we live and are free to go our separate ways. adieu

I'm pretty sure that pure degodization would be hell.

I do love freedom, too. And, I'm fine with you having your religious beliefs.

BUT, I do NOT see evidence that freedom came from your god.

It came from an incredibly long history of development of government.

One of the key steps was to divide religion from government. In the case of western government, that included dividing Christianity from government.

Well our founding document states that it is self evident that there is one God from whom we all spring. That is the source of our equality of rights in freedom. In so doing, and by declaring independence from England, we also separated ourselves from the Church of England. But that Church was not Christianity. It was a counterfeit of Christianity by men who presumed to build a Church around Jesus's gospel and elect themselves to officiate in Gods name as if to command God and dispossess him of his free agency to choose his own servants.

Then they married their false Church to governments and lorded it over peoples worldwide with the power and military of government. Our founders told them all to take a hike. But our founders never said there was no God. They actually said there was. But that he is the individuals to find, rather than the governments place to define and enforce. Hence the grace of our religious liberty. So one could surmise, and it isn't a stretch to say, that Jesus Christ himself gave us our independence from those who had corrupted his gospel. And that our Founding Fathers had been born and commissioned to that end, though not so succinctly, rather that it was simply the right thing to do and the right time to do it.

The DofI refers to a creator, but the clear meaning is that humans have common characteristics.

Then, you want that to mean that YOUR religion gets special standing in our secular government? Seriously??? What is religiously pluralistic about that?

And, your claim of the authorship of American secular government being from Jesus himself is beyond nonsense. The advancement in our government was a step wise advance from the many steps that came before it over the last centuries.

Jesus was not a politician. If he had been, maybe he could have urged his church to have decision making that would refrain from the several inquisitions his believers performed.

Jesus gave mankind duties in serving him and serving others, regardless of their station.

He didn't give freedom or independence or equality or other stuff we like.

Freedom didn't come from God. Otherwise a lot more folks would have had it throughout history, and would still have it. A cursory glance across the world will show you there are plenty of places that don't have freedom.

And if it does come from God, he/she plays no role in making sure people actually have it. Freedom without protection for that freedom isn't freedom. It's like having a right that is not enforced. For all intents and purposes, an unenforced right is the same as a right that does not exist.

Either way, it's up to US to make it happen. If some folks need to pretend it came from God in order to get behind it, I guess I can live with that. But we all know our rights in this country exist because we and those who came before us made it happen, not God.
