I don't know what your confusion is here.

I was saying it's not probable he was Antifa - but if he was Antifa he would (as an infiltrator) be aware of the goal of the rioters, based on the fact that he was carrying zip-ties. That is, their goal was to capture lawmakers to force a rejection of the electoral results - which is why the zip-tie guy & others were thrilled to have the zip-ties (see video).

This is moot anyway because we know who he is, and we know he found the zip-ties or received them from someone else.

Have you bothered finding out how many celebrities there are in the US and UK combined?

And have you bothered checking the number of celebrity deaths each year in the US and UK combined?

And out of this they were only able to come up with a mere 10 examples of celebrities that died in the same month since 1959? lol

Yeah, but you generalised, calling the Republicans a "party of crackpots." Do you stand by that generalisation?

So women who get abortions can be the only target of anti-abortion laws? You're not thinking. Think hard. Who else could be the target?

Because the Dems have always maintained professionalism & amenability?

Why not the Dem's mentality too?

    Interesting.

So the 733 right-wing hate groups do NOT contribute to your idea of the Republicans being "crackpots?" It seemed clear that you were trying to connect the extremism of these hate groups to the Republican Party.

Your cult descriptions also describe Obama.

Yes, I still recall the afternoon (Australia time) that I was sipping wine and eating papadums, watching the 2016 election coverage, as liberals began to discover who their new President was going to be. The liberal tears were just DELICIOUS! Oh how I hope for another afternoon like that! :roflol:

OH THAT'S GREAT! More of that! :roflol:

By 'tricking' people, as per your definitions?

Me too, and the advise to keep several thousand troops in Afghanistan, was part of this evacuation process.

A rapid collapse of the Afghan govt & military which may have been avoided with the support of a skeleton force of serval thousand troops, including the key which was air support, which the Afghans very much depended on.

Why, because so many were dying in the few years before the evacuation?

    What investigation has come before?

How does any of this mean that it would impede "meaningful policy" from being passed?

And as for the three year long Russia probe?

Better put a good gag on him if you're going to do that. LOL

They all lie, but Fox tops them all with not only lies but perpetual bleeding heart patriotic drivel & delusional conspiracy myths. That's my only point.

However, I should point out that the Left-leaning media outlets tend to drone on about how the Right is trying to destroy our 'democracy'. I agree the Right is trying to destroy what remains of our so-called 'democratic process' (ie, elections), but voting for govt officials to represent us the people is NOT what I call 'democracy' to begin with.

With that said, I'm bored with this discussion about news media anyway because I don't watch the major news channels to begin with. So the people you named (Reid, Lemmon, Cross, etc.) I've heard of but never watched.

LOL - nope. I'm nothing. Perhaps one would call me an 'independent' or a 'progressive' or a 'greeny' or whatever depending on the topic of discussion.

LOL @ "Set the record straight" - from the number 1 Fox News host.

    Good one dude!

Actually they've done it to themselves by letting their crazies determine their agenda. At least moderate democrats have control, even AOC has moved far towards a more inclusive and moderate approach. On the other side of the aisle they've let their most extreme, least educated crazies take charge. Even the senate is not immune, they might as well just give McConnell proxy votes for all of them on that side of the aisle. Take his handling of the Supreme Court. Obama had a nominee nearly a year before an election not even considered because it was too close to an election and his successor names his third with barely a month between Ginsburg's death and an election he lost. One year not enough but then one month is plenty.
The party needs to reign in their extremists and put country first.

If using "mUh LrFtiSt" as an insult to shut down someone you disagree with was not already pathetic enough, it is even more pathetic of him to take offense and to rely on other posters to back him up and argue for him that he is indeed a StRonG aLpHa RiGhtiSt or whatever the heck it is he is expecting from me here.

Yes, as I pointed out "Death happens -- a lot. Coincidences are common." There are few ideas for your next DP fundraising party in this BBC article. :)

“It is a small world, isn’t it? You are on holiday in the Pyrenees. You write a postcard to a friend at home and set off to post it. Then who should you meet but that same friend coming up the street. This not only saves you the cost of a stamp but it also provides a great holiday story – enough to make you think that something spooky is going on.

Similar coincidences happen all the time to someone, somewhere, making the plot-driving inventions of Charles Dickens seem almost plausible. Normally we statisticians deal with the dark underbelly of risk – accidents, deaths, disasters, general gloom and doom – but coincidences show the bright, fun side of the way chance plays out in our lives.”
BBC, THE REAL RISK | PREDICTION, Coincidences: What are the chances of them happening?, Our resident statistician explores the odds that can help explain seemingly bizarre chance events … and teaches you a few party tricks., By David Spiegelhalter, 25th April 2012.

Sudden cardiac death in young males has become increasingly common.

You are definitely more of a leftist than FAW has ever dreamed of people.
But then again most of America is also

But no, I wouldn’t classify you as a leftist. Center to moderate right is where I would place you overall

There are 41,000 hours of video from the capital that day. Do the math. That would have to mean that every square inch of that space is covered by multiple cameras. The initial reports were that he was beaten with a fire extinguisher which was debunked once the video was seen. So yes, it is entirely logical to conclude that his every move was caught on film. If it were not, they could not have concluded he was not confronted with a fire extinguisher.

As far as your synopsis of his horror...I think that you are going a bit overboard. Police were facing cinder blocks and Molotov cocktails being tossed at them seemingly all summer long. A couple hours at the capital is not exactly like storming the beaches of Normandy, especially when you consider that Sicknick did not have a scratch on him.

Is bear spray supposed to be worse than tear gas? If so, that is news to me. All I have seen described is chemical irritants, which had me assume they meant tear gas or something similar. Bear spray works for that description as well. One could also conclude pepper spray. This seems like a distinction without relevance.

If you are not a leftist....relax. It is not uncommon to assume that someone making an argument siding with the leftist argument is in fact coming from a leftist. I don't know you. I don't follow your words. All I know is what I have seen in this thread. Your listing of leftists on this board is wholly unnecessary. I can assure you that nobody cares enough to get a "REAL Laugh" as you say. It is truly not THAT funny. Hell, let's be real, it isn't even a little funny.

Perhaps not, I can only arrive at my position based on posts that I have seen which are likely only a fraction of your total posts and likely are in no way a full representation of your actual nuanced positions.

Well, it is important not to confuse anti-abortion with being "pro-life" because anti-abortion is a postion of being anti-life.

A lot of authoritians from both wings have been anti-abortion, so it is not so obvious.

Lastly, the contemporary right snd contemporary left are in full agreement as far as the fundamentals go.

This 100%. Many people that are pro-life also believe that the ultimate decision should be made between a woman in consultation with the father (if available) and her medical provider. These people also usually support programs to help pregnant mothers as well as child care and educational incentives to promote the lives of all involved.

There are others that are pro-forced birth but their narrative ends there. They don’t really care about the mother or the child after the fact.

What is the most rare it seems is the ones that are pro-life who want abortion banned but also support programs to help the child have the best life possible.

I hate abortion but the alternative of a government mandate that a pregnant woman have an unwanted child is too extreme.

The only life involved that is relevant to consider is that of the pregnant woman's.

As far as child care and education goes, that is an entirely different topic completely unrelated to abortion as there is no child in the picture.

Forced birth is the implication of being anti-abortion, so everyone (and not just "others") in that camp advocates that.

    I love abortion.

    Indeed I do.

MAGA has contaminated the GOP and purged what small measure of reason & professionalism it may have had. The GOP now has no limit to the level of corruption it will tolerate, nor any limit to what lies & conspiracy fantasies it will entertain. Thus, as a whole, they can rightly be called the party of crackpots.

Did I say that? If you're referring to doctors who perform abortions also being subject to capital punishment, I would expect that would be the intent of the proposed law. And they would probably include provisions regarding 'accessory to murder' - which means anyone who aids & abets the abortion may also be prosecuted.

The fact that the proposed law subjects ANYONE to capital punishment is the problem.

    Compared to the GOP, yes.

There's no comparison when it comes to the MAGA-contaminated GOP.

It would appear the GOP has become the new unabashed representatives & mouthpiece of the 733 right-wing hate groups, thanks to Trump.

I don't recall Obama's supporters trying to break into the Capitol. LOL

But seriously, Obama was the first black president of the US. One can imagine how that may have affected many people (particularly the black population) living in a nation that ended segregation only 59 years ago with the Civil Rights Act. We'll probably see the same reaction when the first woman becomes president.

I don't recall seeing anyone crying. But who knows, perhaps some of the New Yorkers who were better familiar with Trump's character & history may have cried.

And now Trump is going to be indicted soon. Can't wait to see the DELICIOUS right-wing tears of his MAGA crowd after losing their messiah. LOL

And then there was Trump's niece, Mary Trump, who called her uncle "the most dangerous man in the world."

Yes. He took the oath of office to serve the people & nation, and instead used the office to enrich himself.

The contingent would've remained behind after the evacuation. So why leave a contingent behind if everyone had already been evacuated - ie, no one stranded behind?

If Biden agreed to the recommendations of his Generals, more soldiers & people would've surely died.

It should be understood that there was no good way of leaving Afghanistan so that all parties were happy, because the Taliban were a constant presence. But the evacuation itself could've been successful without any casualties

Air support would've allowed ample time to evacuate everyone & all the equipment too. No need for either air support or a contingent to stay behind once the operation was over. Was any air support used during the evacuation? If not - poor planning!

Both US Soldiers & the Afghan military had long been protected by air support. It is air support that kept the so-called 'peace' for so long, because even the US-trained ANDSF wasn't capable enough of continuously repelling the Taliban. Later, an agreement between the US & the Taliban was reached in Feb 2020 which brought an end to the 2001 – 2021 war in Afghanistan. The Doha Agreement included restrictions on US air strikes.

From wiki - "Negotiated by Zalmay Khalilzad, the agreement did not involve the then Afghan government. The deal, which also had secret annexes, was one of the critical events that caused the collapse of the Afghan National Security Forces. Adhering to the conditions of the deal, the US dramatically reduced the number of US air raids, leaving the ANDSF without a key advantage in keeping the Taliban at bay. This resulted in 'a sense of abandonment within the ANDSF and the Afghan population'. ANDSF was ill-prepared to sustain security following a US withdrawal, which allowed for the Taliban insurgency, ultimately leading to the Taliban takeover of Kabul on 15 August 2021.

The agreement stipulated fighting restrictions for both the US and the Taliban, and provided for the withdrawal of all NATO forces from Afghanistan in return for the Taliban's counter-terrorism commitments. The US agreed to an initial reduction of its force level from 13,000 to 8,600 within 135 days (i.e. by July 2020), followed by a full withdrawal within 14 months (i.e. by 1 May 2021) if the Taliban kept its commitments. The United States also committed to closing five military bases within 135 days, and expressed its intent to end economic sanctions on the Taliban by August 27, 2020. The agreement was supported by Pakistan, China, and Russia, and unanimously endorsed by the UN Security Council. India also welcomed the pact.

Insurgent attacks against the Afghan security forces, however, surged in the aftermath of the deal, with thousands killed. However, withdrawals per the agreement continued. By January 2021, just 2,500 US troops remained in the country, and NATO forces fully evacuated by the end of that summer. The US completed its full evacuation on August 30, 2021, as the Taliban took control of the country by force."

So you see, once the evacuation proceeded, the Doha Agreement was no more. And so, to protect the Afghan govt & its ANDSF indefinitely, US forces, along with continued air support, would have had to remain in Afghanistan basically forever. A 'contingent' of several thousand soldiers wouldn't have done beans - and then we'd have to send in more forces plus air support just to protect the 'contingency'.

Good thing Biden had the final say.

    https://www.militarytimes.com/news/...-hearings-on-afghanistan-evacuation-missteps/

Unnecessary committee hearings waste taxpayer money which reduces money available that can be used towards funding meaningful policies (eg, social programs, infrastructure, etc.). And, if the hearing involves a subject matter that causes further division & alienation between the two parties, they may be less likely to agree on passing important bipartisan bills that matter to the people.

Often committee hearings, even if warranted, end up being a tit-for-tat for one party against the other party. One party wants to conduct the hearing while the other party wants to avoid it. This is because the parties don't work together to root out corruption.

The very nature of the party system by itself is illogical. The party system serves to both foster & capitalize on division as a means of subjugating & controlling the masses. Some person was quoted as saying something to the effect - in order to destroy the opposition, become the opposition. Divide & conquer is an age old trick.

Mueller's investigation lasted 22 months, and was conducted by the FBI, not Congress. Mueller testified before Congress (House Judiciary & House Intelligence committees) for 7 hours.

    The hearing was fully warranted.

    Covid? In 2011? ;-)

“Background: Sudden cardiac death (SCD) is the most common cause of death in adults aged <65 years, making it a major public health problem. A growing incidence in coronary artery disease (CAD) in young individuals has been predicted in developed countries, which could in turn be associated with an increase in SCD in this population. The aim of the study was to assess the prevalence of CAD among autopsies of young individuals (<40 years) who had sudden death (SD).”
