I have hunted since i was 9. I have a 20 gage, 12 gage, and a 3006. I also served active duty in the Army, and used my fair share of weapons there. I don't think the 2nd amendment the way it has been interpreted by the courts is good for the country. I think people who trick out their AR15s or other guns are sad pathetic people.
lots of wealthy elites own guns but they know that their beloved Democrat gun control schemes are designed to disarm the poor, blacks and "rednecks" not the BMW driving ballet aficionados who vote Biden and think Kamala Harris is a model for they daughters to emulate
I think people who worry about what law abiding citizens own or use lawfully are control freaks who are a cancer on society. why do you give me a good laugh and tell me how the second amendment should be interpreted "for the good of the country".
wow, that's a brutal retort. are you going to tell us how you think the second amendment should be interpreted for "the good of society" it's been a while since I graded law student exams. this should be fun
once again-you made an assertion that you believe that the current (and mostly correct) USSC interpretation of the second is not good for society. I am waiting for you to proffer your interpretation of the second and how it would be better for our society
so you whine about the supreme court's interpretation yet you are afraid to post your own. Now I will be honest, nothing you have ever posted suggested that you would ever post a rational analysis of the second and why you could HONESTLY find a fault with the current controlling interpretation. It's just like the silly claim that because you purport to own a firearm that somehow negates the fact that your posts are hard core anti gun owner spewage
I doesn't really matter what I say, you are so angry, that you just call people liars. I do hope you are able to find peace in life. Help is out there.
Angry? I am laughing at your attempts to hide your virulent hatred of gun advocates and conservative voters by pretending you own guns and that you even have a slight inkling of understanding constitutional law.
A bunch of people on this board know who I am and know I spent 24 years in federal service as a DOJ litigator. You can claim to be ex military which makes your anti second amendment position even worse because if you actually did serve, you took the same oath I did to the constitution and yet you want to crap all over it.
I don't want to crap all over it. I just think we need to update it, you know through the amendment process. I've learned to never argue with a gun nut though. We will move forward without you guys.
It's clear that my one word dismissal of you a few posts back really triggered you. I'm sorry, that was not my intention.
what do you mean moving forward? in your mind, it appears "progress"=LESS FREEDOM. Progressives are generally a cancer in a free society. "Gun nut" means someone who understands gun issues far better than you and are far more honest as to their beliefs. Tell us what amendments do you want. You seem rather reticent to actually state a position. Is that because you are unable to adequately defend your position?
You are the one expecting people to have a discussion with you after you just randomly call them a liar. Sorry buddy, you just aren't very interesting.
It seems like you know your way about firearms but I was wondering if you still, currently, target shoot or hunt. I target shoot with pistols and rifles about once a month but used to shoot more frequently. I'd like to ask 2 more questions if you don't mind. 1. In what ways do you feel that the 2nd Amendment in interpreted in a way that is detrimental to the country? 2. I'm not the type that has to have the latest and very best gadgets either but the shooting sports are grossly under publicized and for the growing number of people who are competing, it makes sense to use whatever accessories are permitted. Competitive shooting is one of the few sports in which gender makes no difference so that biological males who identify as females don't have an advantage over biological females. Finally, I don't see why people who "trick out" their firearms are any more "sad pathetic people" than people who trick out their cars, stereo systems, fishing boats or motorcycles. In retrospect, do you? Thanks, “Different Types of Competition Shooting" https://schooloftrades.edu/different-types-of-competition-shooting/ EXCERPT “The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) states that 19 million plus Americans safely invest their time in target practice. They use handguns, shotguns and rifles. Some of this is for fun and much of it is for competitive shooting. Practice makes perfect.” CONTINUED "Top 50 Women in Competitive Shooting" https://www.ssusa.org/articles/2017/6/19/top-50-women-in-competitive-shooting/ EXCERPT "From action pistol and bullseye champions, smallbore, high power and precision rifle masters, trapshooters and Olympic gold medalists—SSUSA has compiled this list of 50 (52 to be exact) female athletes that are influencing the ever-changing landscape of competitive shooting—for the better. Note: This isn’t a ranking, though we purposely grouped the first four women at the front in recognition of the attention generated by their respective shooting careers. Otherwise it’s a random selection, with the goal of presenting female shooters from as many disciplines as possible."CONTINUED
Anytime there is a discussion about doing anything meaningful about gun safety, the argument always ends up with one side hiding behind the second amendment. If the 2nd amendment is the reason someone opposes doing something, then that means the 2nd amendment is the problem. If they can't come up with anything other than the 2nd amendment to be against something, then it's clear that the 2nd amendment is the problem. That's fine, and I don't disagree that the 2nd amendment prevents most of the things we'd want to do. We agree that the 2nd amendment is preventing progress, then we need to change the 2nd amendment. that's not happening in any of our lifetimes, but it will eventually happen. I hunt doves a couple of times a year for fun, deer in the winter for meat, and kill hogs in a trap a few times a year for meat. I wouldn't call that last one hunting really. There are too many guns in the US. I don't want to argue with anyone about that, because i don't care what anyone else's opinion on that is. I think we should limit manufacturing of new firearms in the US, so that hopefully in 100 years, we might have fewer guns than people in the US. I responded to you because you didn't act like a child in your reply, I'm really not looking for an in-depth back and forth though, because there will be children who start to interject and i just don't have the energy for it.
you have several times. I'm sorry if you thought i gave a **** about you calling me a liar, it didn't hurt my feelings, it just let me know you aren't worth taking seriously. You need to get some life experience, sounds like you've been trapped in the same bubble your entire adult life.
