They have been systematically abusing their power for decades.

And Democrats cheered them on until they lost their majority. Then suddenly it's not fair.

I love how you didn’t disagree — you just don’t care now that you feel your team has won, and destroyed the legitimacy of the court in the interim.

which democrats cheered for justices ethics violations?

when do you think democrats last had a majority on the supreme court?

ethical rules for federal employees prohibit "the appearance of impropriety." shouldn't these rules apply to the 9 federal employees on the court?

The Democrats are PO’d at the Supreme Court because it’s the last branch of the Federal Government they don’t control. Be careful what you wish for, rank and file Democrats. I know you have been taught that your party is the source of all that is good, but “Absolute power corrupts absolutely.” There are some very ambitious and bad people in both parties, and you don’t want them completely in charge.

no, the democrats are not "the source of all good, nor is that taught anywhere that i know of.

ideally, i do not want either party to exist, and the founders might support that position

It's impossible for a factionless government to exist.

tell that to the "geniuses" who wrote the constitution and then wrote the federalist papers (anonymously, like internet trolls).

I knew SW well in College-I was the freshman who knocked him off the varsity on the skeet team but he was a good guy then-just another rather friendly prep school guy who was a decent student but whose attendance was more the result of privilege than SAT scores. I doubt he objected to what FDR did-created a system where democrats can pander to voters with all sorts of unconstitutional programs. Whitehouse is from a very old very wealth uber establishment family that has used government connections to massively accentuate their wealth

If the Supreme court had properly done its job, we never would have had half the bullshit federal nonsense we have now

How so? The voters put Obama in, which got the ball rolling, and they almost voted for Hillary. Then they voted for Biden and gave him majorities in both houses of Congress.

From the political standpoint, the Supreme Court decided to send the abortion issue back to the states. That was not smart from the political perspective because it gives the Democrats a huge cutting issue going into all of the elections. It might well have been the tipping point for the near Democrat victories in 2022.

Is abortion the issue where the Supreme Court slipped up? I don't see any others.

They had factions then, too. How do you think they came up with the Federalists and the Anti-Federslists?

And he got his arse handed to him by just one witness alone AND the WSJ Editorial Board

Sheldon Whitehouse vs. the Supreme Court
One witness dismantles the Senator’s plan to control the Justices.

......Sorry, but the members of another branch of government don’t need to run their personal social calendars past Mr. Whitehouse for approval before they meet up with old friends. After weeks of spelunking into the financial disclosures of the conservative Justices, the media has emerged with only innuendo.

......One piece of the hearing worth watching is the seven-minute opening statement by Thomas Dupree Jr., a former principal deputy assistant attorney general. A Republican witness, Mr. Dupree assessed a bill sponsored by Mr. Whitehouse—the Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency Act.

“Section two of the bill orders the Supreme Court to issue a code of conduct governing the Justices, and to establish procedures for disciplinary investigations of Justices,” he said. This would infringe the separation of powers, treating the High Court “no different than the Department of Agriculture or any federal agency that can be commanded by Congress.”..

The SCOTUS rules do apply to themselves. The rules Congress passes on simple employees do not they do not oversee those 9 Justices of the Supreme Court as has been fully discussed in the current events thread on the matter.

if course they did. they devised a plan that

    1. did not separate powers because of partisanship.
    2. uses partusanship to avoid checks or balances
    3. they did things which, i am assured her daily, are not allowed by article 1
    4. bears little resemblance to the idealized document you learned about in jr high.
    5. pays 100 useless parasites to sit in a senate and not allow the house of reps to pass legislation
    6. conservatives call this deliberately failed state "a government devised by geniuses to govern idiots."

well, you guys must see something i don't. the only founder with a lick of sense was franklin.

Only an idiot would believe that all the SC(r)OTUS judges just happen to have billionaire buddies that love them so much they give them half million dollar trips and sweetheart real estate deals regularly.

    Wise up..
