It's been said jokingly, with sarcasm and outright seriousness, but on several occasions science has deemed liberalism to be a mental disorder. The people who preach love, tolerance and peace are typically the most hateful, intolerant and violent people in the country.

The article mentions one of the most glaring current hypocrisies, that of Kerry's activism and his lecturing us on global warming while he flies around on a private jets. The same could be said about the open borders crowd who suddenly find themselves swamped with illegals and no longer wish to virtue signal at their own expense.

So the next time Biden or anyone else on the left tells you that white supremacists present the most dangerous terrorist threat to this country, then run to them with the settled science of how they're just virtue signalling to the max and projecting their own thoughts and actions onto others.

The actual study points out that there has already been research in to the negative aspects of right-wing extremism but not as much on left-wing extremism, which i why they did this study. I think it's fairly clear that the bottom line is that neither "left" or "right" are the source of any of the problem but the "extremism". I appreciate that might be more difficult to recognise and accept from the inside though.

The crazed kids who are throwing tomato soup on works of art and gluing their hands to the walls around the display are at least temporarily insane. Last week they dumped charcoal into the Trevi Fountain in Rome. I don't know that they are really mentally ill, but the teachers and professors who whip them up to this state might be.

I'm not surprised the cons think that love, tolerance and peace are mental illnesses.

The left lives in constant fear of "right wing extremists", guns and global warming. That is mental illness.

John Kerry would never think of taking a commercial flight to save on CO2 emissions. He's more needed around the planet to fight global warming don't you know.

All anyone has to do is look at the NYC professor who shut down a pro life exhibit because she disagreed with it, put a machete to a reporters neck while she knew she was being recorded, chased him down the street threatening to chop him into pieces and in the end she claims she's the victim.

How opened minded, tolerant and willing to happily discuss diverse opinions.

As far as I’m concerned the extremists on BOTH sides have a mental disorder.

Yep, you go with that, just assume that your political opposition is mentally ill, so you can dismiss them without actually thinking about the issues.

As to your examples, the same thing can be said about the right wing: Voting against environmental regulations and then a train with toxic chemical derails behind their backyard, so they cry to the hated government to make them whole, voting for lax gun control, until a loved one or friend dies in a mass shooting or through gun violence, voting against unemployment benefits and then losing a job and being unable to find a new one... and the list goes on.

The reality is that few people fully understand the consequences of their actions (and votes), on both sides of the political spectrum. Sad but true.

How is that any worse than living in constant fear of drag queens and socialism?

I don't live in fear of anything. I have never discussed drag queens or socialism.

Another issue here is the degradation of communication that arises from hostility and incivility. You can't have a discussion with hateful people, with those who use insult as a point in the discussion- you can only have arguments and the quality of communication will be determined by the side taking the low road. If that is tolerated, everyone involved gets dragged down to that level.

The honor and character of people, or its absence- will determine the difference between discussion and argument, and the difference between it being productive or just an escalation of abuse.

That is true. Maybe you can start with criticizing the "f Joe Biden" crowd. Because that kind of hateful stuff is where the political discourse is at these days.

I mean I know democrats and all I hear is global warming, far right terrorists and guns. I should also add Trump and DeSantis to the things they fear.

Of course you do. Regardless, the fact remains that there are all sorts of idiots and extremists out there and none of it is primarily or exclusively linked to either "left" or "right". People who think it is are part of the problem themselves though.

    Let me ask you something:

Who’s more likely to organize a protest?
    Who’s more likely to riot?
Who’s more likely to shut down or cancel speakers they don’t like?
Who’s more likely to get violent?

To engage in the things I mentioned takes a strong degree of emotion which goes right to nine’s mental state. Who gets upset over the death of a career criminal they didn’t know in a state they don’t live in and burns down their own neighborhood?

Leave it to a conservative to misquote the study in question. The study in question dealt with narcissism and other traits in which extremism exists. Narcissism is not determined by a person's political affiliation, but their personality traits as an individual. Trump is a very narcissistic individual and you see that in his demeanor, his behavior, and his beliefs. And Trump is no "left-leaning liberal" I might add. There are those who are on the left who also exhibit those personality traits such as Malcolm X for instance, some leaders in some of the left's extremist movements, as well as in the right's extremist movements.

Then you would have the wrong idea of what global warming is and how it is contributed.

I remember seeing a video detailing Jeff Bezos' two private jets and how they were going between Seattle and Los Angeles daily so he could see his wife. He used an estimated 100,000 litres of jet fuel in about a week.

    How very sustainable of him.

Who’s more likely to organize a protest? The left

Who’s more likely to riot? Rioters

Who’s more likely to shut down or cancel speakers they don’t like? Religious people

Who’s more likely to get violent? The right though you need to define "violent". The Right tend to use physical violence. The Left tend to shout a lot
