So, the ‘dementia-ridden’, ‘stumbling and bumbling’ Joe Biden has hoodwinked both McCarthy and the Orange Stain….?

    Hmmmmmm…….

And now, he has the perfect defense when he's charged and convicted of triggering the far RW Trump sycophants re the Hunter propaganda campaign. :)

There is not much “unprecedented” about it. All they did was slow the rate of increase in government spending.

The “MAGA Republicans” should not blame McCarthy. All he has is a thin four vote majority in the House. The Democrats control everything else.

If the arch conservatives trash this deal, they will be cutting off their own noses. A default will be catastrophic for the Republican Party because they will get the blame. The Republicans always get blamed for government shutdowns. It’s the consequences from the fact that the News Media, except Fox News, is in the tank for the Democrats. It also has to do with low information voters who know little about the news.

If the conservatives want to fix things, which should be done, they need to win more elections, including, most importantly, the White House. Trashing this deal will be very counterproductive to achieving that goal.

Thanks Zorro. Much as it pains me I think this was about as good as we were going to get while holding only the house. Note the notion of enforceable spending restraints is laughable what one Congress can do the next can undo. The only real way to win is to have all three held by constitutional conservatives who are actually willing to take the heat for acting as such.

Speaker Kevin McCarthy said the deal included “historic reductions in spending.”

    C'mon man.

I guess you don’t read my posts. I might be one of Trump’s harshest critics on this site. But get the idea that I’m on your side, I’m not.

I'm just hoping, as I pointed out, that the right sticks with Diaper Donnie, regardless of who YOU support. It will do wonders for the GOP :)

Which is really all you have to do to balance the budget hold spending to less than the increase in GDP. It worked in the nineties with Gingrich it will work today.

The Democrats will never buy that, and many Republicans won't either. A lot of what people expect when they send someone to Washington is for them to "bring home the bacon" to their district or state. Otherwise many ask, "Why did we elect you?"

LOL, It worked in the '90's despite Newt and the GOP, Clinton and the Dems in their '93 omnibus bill created 2 new brackets and took the top rate up over 20%, to 39.6% as they cut over $400 billion in ''growth'' the next 5 years.

Of course as soon as BJ Bill got his first budget surplus, the GOP had to pass a $792+ billion tax cut BJ Bill had to veto to get 3 more, then Dubya/GOP came into office and showed US how "fiscally responsible" they were

if Trump is elected in 2024, the debt will be about 50 trillion after his 2nd 4-year term - do republicans really care about debt?

I would have like to have seen Biden push for raising the caps on the rich for SS as part of this deal, sad he did not

maybe dems in the house can push for it, most of the voters of both parties support it, even if some republicans in power do not
