Do you think the people calling to ban 'assault weapons' are more often talking about 'M16s' or 'AR15s'?
All law abiding citizens should be able to own automatic weapons, short barreled shotguns, short barreled rifles and suppressors.
Sugarmann explained why. and many gun banners can see owning a pistol. They see AR 15s as the totem that their hated enemies own. Gun rights advocates and those most likely to resist a marxist dictatorship or a leftwing authoritarian state. They want to ban AR 15s for reasons that HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH CRIME CONTROL
I hear ya man. Hopefully if we can come up with an idea of who exactly is sposed to have em (and who gets 'regular guns'), it'll help the banners come up with a more objective and consistant definition.
They'll keep changing it until they get one passed and then they'll just put everything one the list.
Probably. But who gets exempted from the list? Obviously the military. Police? They were the bad guy a year ago. But law abiding citizens will probably prefer that when the criminals show up with assault weapons, the police have them too. Rich people? They're always the bad guy. Celebrities? Do celebrities get 'assault weapons'? Or just the celebrities' body guards? Is that 'equality'? Inquiring minds want to know.
Let's rule out guns just because they look scary, and the idiotic idea that all semi-automatic weapons should be included. I think that's a good start. IMHO magazine capacity means squat.
Unfortunately no one that wants to ban guns ever participates in these sorts of threads. Almost like they don't actually care what the law is, as long as they get to ban something. Anything. Kinda like the people who will pass any restriction against abortion or drugs. Its all just the enforcement of a subjective morality. No care given to rights or objective rule of law at all.
Absolutely dead center! Anything to scare the public, give them more power and decrease their opponents influent.
