AGAIN….if it has no place in America today because we are more racially equal, you can show us the evidence that that racial equality in schooling will ramain…correct ?

What about a refusal by a bakery to bake a chocolate-and-vanilla cake for a mixed-race black-and-white marriage? Would that be any different?

a proper use of "affirmative action". when I was at two different Ivy league schools-racial preferences tended to reward underachieving wealthy black students. Black was "disadvantaged" while white or Asian "advantaged" even though I met several "boat people" who had no advantages but a burning desire to achieve and they managed to do well at Yale or Cornell without preferences.

but there is a place for affirmative action when it is done properly. As a graduate student I was also a varsity coach. The admissions office gave my team a few "slots" meaning some preferential treatment even though Ivy league schools don't have athletic rides like say Stanford or Duke, G'Town or other elite academic schools not in the Ivy do. Now here is where "affirmative action " might be valid

I will use tennis since I was an assistant in the women's program in addition to my main sport. Let's say I have one slot left. I have two candidates-Mary and Sarah. Mary is from a very wealthy family. She had her own private court, a full time coach and her father is able to send her to IMG academy when she reached high school (80K) a year. She is able to play the ITF circuit in the summer and has a national ranking in the top 15. She is a top recruit. Sarah is from a middle class background. She is a standout athlete in several team sports and is her school's top tennis player. But she cannot afford to play the national circuit. She doesn't have a private court or a full time coach. She is ranked 50 in the country.

so who do I give the slot too? I have seen both girls play. In my professional opinion, Mary has pretty well maxed out. She has had every advantage and is a very good player but 15 in the U/19 division is the highest I think she will go-probably not All American in college. Sarah on the other hand-has more potential. Once she goes to a top program with top coaches and facilities, playing very good college kids, rather than her middle class high school league-she has All-American or even pro level potential. This might well be a case where we pick based on proven potential rather than current achievement. That is a valid form of affirmative action

Instead it was perverted by racial spoils. Black kids who had attended top public or private schools but did not take advantage of those opportunities were given slots ahead of kids who had. The supreme court decision was a good one

that's a good question and there is no easy answer. however, I believe the bill of rights should prevail over lower laws. While it is odious for someone to refuse to serve a mixed race couple, I think the business should have that right.

So then how does A.A. differ from a ruling that says a bakery may refuse to bake a cake for a gay wedding? What is “right” in each case?

what exactly are you asking here? You really need to be shown that outcomes are different? So you even know what you are arguing anymore? Lol

Police do not systemically discriminate against black people. There is zero evidence of that, police follow the violence which increases the rate of even non violent crimes being processed.

By removing A A we have eliminated an avenue used to discriminate against race.

Now we're getting somewhere, why are the odds stacked against them. I'll start...

Liberal Metro's allowing schools to become a cesspool
Liberal school boards in these metro are more worried about sexual inclusion than core subjects.
Liberal politicians care more about money flowing into their campaigns, than the children suffering from god awful schools. Otherwise they would do like republican states and pass school choice, where students can get out of these cesspool innercity schools.

Thanks for showing your true colors though, it's appreciated.

I'll let you look them up, there's a study by Duke and the National educational Institute, can't remember which one had the data. Or just go read the plaintiff's argument to supreme court.

What a dumb question, sure I'll grab my Magic 8 ball and let you know. Now again, your looking at this from the view of one race, problem is admission is from several races and one race does getting advantages discriminate against others. It must be fair to all races including asians sorry.

A higher percentage of Republicans than Democrats voted for the CRA in both House and Senate.

    That was SCOTUS's reasoning.

I said it in another thread. People work to create better lives for themselves AND their children.

Do you think Barack and Michelle didn’t do any of the things she mentioned above for Sasha and Malia?

    Or is that different?

I support the right of two law-abiding, adults of either sex to marry each other if they want. For that matter, I would not object to marriages involving multiple partners, such as many of the LDS faith were famous for years ago.

But, a person must have the right to fraternize, patronize, and enter into business relationships with others that he CHOOSES, and must never be forced to engage in any of those things with those he doesn't want to.

All of this is a long way from the topic, but anyway, you get the point I hope. We must all be treated EQUALLY BEFORE THE LAW. But there must never be a LAW telling you who you must work for, who you must do business with, who or what you must vote for, etc. Freedom of American citizens must always be considered to be as important as equality of all American citizens!

Incorrect, by removing AA we have combated it. AA is inherently racist.

    Why are you?

Show you what exactly. That the outcomes for black people in the US are worse? Do you not pay attention to stats? They literally are a statistical anomaly in a multitude of ways. You’ve even acknowledged this in this very thread lol. Do you know what you are even trying to argue anymore lol?
