This is how you deal with politicians that try to hijack democracy to keep themselves in power. You bar them from office. You bar them from having authority. It really doesn't seem that complicated. Or partisan even.
Lol…more distractions from the maga brigade. It must be Saturday. It’s heartening to see Brazilians refuse to stick their heads up a seditious traitor’s ass.
Egregious liars are a problem in countries with democratic forms of government. The United States has at least two notable individuals of this ilk. Whether a means of cleansing the body politic of them will be found is uncertain at this time. Regards, stay safe 'n well.
Xi and Putin agree with you. It certainly works to keep those with opposing views to them from power. Everything changes, you should have enough imagination to visualize a situation where fascists take power in America and ban their opponents from running for office. I doubt you would agree with that. Absolute power absolutely corrupts. Believing a D beside a politicians name makes them immune to corruption is just silly. Handing absolute power to any party is the worst idea ever.... it always and without exception ends the same way. You always need counter elites vying for power.... they keep the ruling elites honest.
Did you reply to the wrong person? The quoted doesn’t say anything about wanting one party rule anywhere or that no dems can be corrupt.
Bolsonaro is a freaking Eagle Scout compared to the asshat we've had to put up with.... "cast unfounded doubts on the country’s electronic voting system.: How quaint is that? Good on ya Brazil....
I don't know about that. Bolsonaro is not a good guy. I don't know that I'd want to go on record undercutting him just to hit Trump. We didn't have to live with Bolsonaro here in America. Neither of those men should ever be in a position of government power again for even a second of their lives. There's no need to compare them beyond that.
I agree with this sentiment, but I also agree with the GOP sentiment after the second impeachment: It should be the voters, who do so and in both instances it was the voters who expelled these two individuals. That's how the system is supposed to work. We the people, should have a voice in our process. Democracy is truly at stake when our voices are negated. Whether it be by Trump's attempts to remain in power, or impeaching before the elections. I think preserving our right to choose is the right choice, even if we as a society make the wrong one.
You are right... he's not a good guy, making my point even more stark.... I think the point of this thread is that Brazil has a system and people willing to recognize and handle people like that while we currently do not...
