It’s stupid hot/humid in South Florida right now. These are the days I truly celebrate pool ownership. Swimming in January is fun, but nothing beats when a 95 degree pool feels refreshing compared to the air temp.

As a kid all water activities ended up with me being cold so I never enjoyed them. Sounds like I might have become a better swimmer if I had grown up in FL. :)

I grew up in south central Colorado with virtually no humidity. I’m still not a fan of the humidity we have in Nebraska. If I lived in FL I would probably have to give in and buy an air conditioner for the house. LOL

Man, the joy of swimming caught me when I was in kindergarten, lol. Swimming in all the lakes in Illinois and surrounding states was a great pastime. It was a lifelong dream to own a pool. I finally made it happen at age 50.

I’m glad you got your pool. It must feel good having something you’ve wanted and worked for that long right where you can enjoy it every day.

There is absolutely nothing better to eat than a tomato you just pulled from the vine.

That was supposed to be a picture of the two kittens my cat had with a feral cat on the farm.
    It didn't post though.
    I'm good.
Everyone is harvesting their wheat but our old variety wheat is still weeks away.
Not as dry as last year so hopefully we'll get a better yield of straw. Last year a lot of it was too short for thatching so had to be combined.

Glad you had some rain. We are much wetter than last year as well. Will probably start irrigating end of the week if it doesn’t rain before then.

Good to see you. I worry a bit when I don’t see someone for a while. :)

We could do with some more rain. It's still very dry and we just had the hottest June on record.
The hay has just been cut though so hopefully we don't get any rain for the next few days.

I spend most of my screen time on a UK forum these days. I still pop in here and read a few topics but I'm not posting much at the moment.

Hope you get some rain…later. I’ve put up 10 acres of hay without being rained on and about 220 acres that was rained on so far. LOL. At least that means it will grow back, right? Look for the silver lining!

Sorry I haven't been around much. I bought some land and a tractor and cut 6 acres of 6-8 ft tall weeds. I've started preparing a base for a shipping container and it arrives Wednesday. It's a single use 40 ft high cube with double doors on both ends. I've been trimming all tree limbs below 8 ft. I may hold off on some of this stuff until it cools off, but I couldn't wait on the container. I need a place to park my tractor and to put all of my stuff in to get rid of my storage rental. I'm still working 50+ hrs/wk.

I didn't know that they made 40 foot high shipping containers. Why is it single use?

40 ft long. A high cube is 9 ft tall instead of the standard 8 ft tall and it's 8 ft wide. It's a shipping container from cargo ships, but this one was used only once before I bought it, so it doesn't have a million dings and rusty spots.

That thing must weigh 30 tons. No worries if a tornado hits it LOL. I've been tempted to try to build a shipping container vaca cottage on a piece of undeveloped land I inherited in the mountains but TBH, I am not sure how they could get one to the location since it is a mighty tight turn on the road with a store built all the way up to one side of the corner and a utility pole on the other one at the road intersection.

Meet my new employee. I hired him to drive the tractor while I scatter and assemble irrigation pipe. This is the first time he’s ever been in a tractor or driven any vehicle. I drove the exact route I wanted him to follow to demonstrate and he’s been flawless after turning the driver’s seat over to him. Never deviated more that a centimeter or two from the path I showed him.

Here he is in the seat and then a pic of him driving while I scatter pipe.

My only complaint is he’s terrible at following hand signals. But so has every other employee I’ve ever had. LOL

I’ll probably keep him on for a couple weeks and then feed him to the cows. I’ll just get a new driver this fall when it’s time to pick the pipe back up.

Doesn’t complain. I don’t need him right now so I threw him on the floor away from the tractor AC. I’m hogging all the cold air and he doesn’t seem to care. :)

It weighs 8000 lbs empty and has a maximum gross loaded weight of 69k lbs. I'm a little worried about how secure my foundation will be. I built up the dirt to level the low end and I worry about erosion. I'll spread gravel around to minimize erosion, but I didn't have time to get it in advance.

This is what you get when you are improperly attired , I have a nearly new pair of redwing steel toe boots. Kind of wish I’d had them on instead of tennis. However, I will say it could’ve been worse, as it is, it is a flat crush, and not jagged

We have to stop selling beer here by midnight and yet almost every night I will have someone come in after midnight attempting to buy beer.

Most of the time when I tell people this they just leave but the Hispanics that try to buy beer often try to bribe me with petty cash. Like my job is really worth a $10 bill on the side.

I don't know why people try to do that because they should be well aware of the county ordinances. Come here before midnight and I will sell you all the beer you can fit in your vehicle.
