Afirmative action is restitution for the years of suffering caused by jim crow laws, not racism.

 

Restitution means making up for a wrong done to somebody. Preferential treatment to one person done because of unfair treatment of another is not restitution, it's racism. The first person is not the second person, and they ought no to be treated as such just because they share a skin tone.

Are you making any effort to trace them, or are you merely presuming that if somebody is a particular race then they suffer what others their race suffer?

 

You two are being obtuse...There is no selection over another. Extra seats are added to compensate for any lineage issues the AA student may suffer.

For instance when a collage pre selects students based on Lineage, AA will extend the registration period for students without those benefits, or fund additional access.

No one is chosen over another. A legacy based student still gets his preferential treatment when an AA student is placed in the class along with them. Its not either or, that is your confusion.

Do you mean to qualify for racial discrimination preference you have to prove your ancestor was a slave or something and that black people whose ancestors immigrated after slavery ended are excluded? Even if so, a person is not her ancestor. If you want to base things on hardship, then the person you are giving preference to should probably be the one who endured the hardship, don't you think?

Or by lineage do you mean legacy admissions, which are also a form of discrimination? If so, why are they relevant? Are you presuming everyone against race based admissions ins't against legacy based admissions? Both are unjust.

Why do you think that is relevant? I don't care what some peope who were white benefited from (in this case gender based admissions?). Those are not the same white (or asian) people who are being discriniated against here. If you equate white people as if they are one, and as if somehow a benefit to one offsets discrimination against another, that too is clearly racism.
