When Biden and the Democrats got into power in 2021 we
reversed a Trump policy and sent lots of weapons to
Ukraine, which surrounding nations wanted to keep neutral.

The weapons shipments were sold to the public on the
basis that they would prevent war, despite Pres. Putin's
repeated warnings to keep Ukraine neutral.

And Kyiv immediately put the arms to good use by shelling
Donetsk and other parts of Russian-speaking Eastern
    Ukraine.

Right after the implosion of the Soviet Union, the ideal situation for us in 'the West' was to get as many of the countries formerly allied with Russia into NATO, and, the EU, as we could get. A big prize was always Ukraine for a lot of geopolitical and economic reasons, and so the International Monetary Fund lavished billions of dollars cultivating 'friendly' relationships with the Ukrainian oligarchs who were every bit as clever, heavy-handed, and corrupt as their counterparts in the emerging, new Russian Federation.

Fast-forward to 2015 and the engineered failure of the Minsk Agreements, which allowed the Kiev government to get totally 'in bed' with us in 'the West'. It was inevitable that conflict would emerge from all that followed, and now here it is.

And the key takeaway is that Russia, for one reason or another, has really dragged its feet in projecting dominance over the Kiev government. Very puzzling, but Russia has always been a puzzle to us because as far back into history as you look, Russians have always thought about things very much differently from us, about nearly everything of any real importance.

I should have put that option.

I focus too much on what the idiots who agree with Brandon say,
and sometimes lose sight of the possibility that the majority of people
do not agree and that many are aware the government does
what the weapons makers want, and has no responsibility to
    the deplorable non multi-millionaires.

Tankies are the most absurd people, in how they blame the USA for every evil Russia does. Not just that, they blame the USA for every evil that has ever happened on planet earth, even things that happened before the USA existed.

They really, really hate America with a white hot fire.

I can't answer because I don't know why our government got involved in the first place. You could ask government but they would give some nonsense like we care about the Ukranians or fear Russia is a threat to Europe. I wouldn't buy either response.

Our government apparently cares far more about Ukranians but sells Americans short. It is all about selling out America for money and power...."globalism".

They don't care about Ukrainians or Ukraine. They care about Russia. Russia is an enemy.

    The correct answer is:

Yes, Russia's paranoid/corrupt war against Ukraine did not go smoothly partly as a result of western help, and so it helps maintain the world order of respecting governments' sovereignty rather than gobbling up weaker countries to form/re-establish an empire. This will likely save us from future wars.

Very true. By that point stopping the Military Industrial Congressional Complex (the originally proposed name)
would have been very difficult, and then after JFK was assassinated, Johnson stepped up the war in Vietnam
into the huge war it became, and the MIC got loads more money, grew, and got more power, so it became
unstoppable, and now runs the US.

We've gone past 1991, did that some time ago. And right now we are our own worst enemy.

Who ended the petrodollar? the Biden Administration.
Who ended the Eurodollar? well it is very big but is being removed under threats from the Biden Administration.

True. We will have to get busy reopening all those computer chip plants. Most likely we will just buy them from China. I've given up hope that the U.S. will head back in the right direction. It seems like it is too far gone.

Yes that is my frustration as well. This administration seems intent on us buying our batteries from China. It makes them a good deal of $$.
I forget.....which Communist dictator said "we'll hang you and you'll sell us the rope"?

We have a bad habit of catering to our enemies and undermining our friends. It's been a head scratcher for a long long time.

The dirty little secret is that the Russians are winning the war now. They are killing off Ukrainian civilians and putting more pressure on Odessa, which is that last port Ukraine has left.

I think Putin's occupiers are going to face a lot of guerilla warfare once he gobbles up the country. The hatred for the Russians is going to run deep. I would never want to be a Russian occupier in Ukraine. You had best have your life insurance paid up for your family.

Lenin said that. He was thinking about the capitalist profit motive, but nowadays there are more than a few western politicians on the left who are envious of the power the Communist Chinese Government has over its citizens. The death clown, Justin Trudeau, who heads the Canadian Government has said as much.

The hatred for Russia is in the US. The media gets us all riled up.

Next year we will hate someone else.

True.... and the Russians have felt since the 1970's that America's support for the little nation of Israel gives them an opening that can be used to destroy America as the world's leading military and economic superpower.

Russia and its influence on Mideast terrorism...

The corruption in the Ukraine among many people from a certain type of ancestry fits with this plan.
