How do you see Divisiins stacking up? My only "Lock Picks" are: KC (AFC West) SF (NFC West) Jacksonville (AFC South)
I'm a casual fan and a hard-core homer so I don't have any idea how the season will end. I just know that my beloved and long suffering Lions will kick KCs hienie tonight! Go Detroit and please, for the love of mercy, win one before I die!
As of right now, without seeing much of a lot of these teams: NFC East - Eagles. Philly may still be the most complete team in the NFL. I don't see the Cowboys knocking them off (yet). North - Lions. Goff looking like a Number 1 overall pick again. Rest of the division ho-hum. South - Saints. Going with Derek Carr here. I like Baker Mayfield but he's too inconsistent, so I can't take the Bucs. West - 49ers. This division will be more fun if Matthew Stafford and the Rams can get it back together. AFC East - Bills. Even Aaron Rogers can't save the train wreck that is the Jets. Dolphins very intriguing. North - Leaning Ravens but Browns could take it if they can get over losing All-Pro RT Jack Conklin (big if). WTF Bengals? South - Jags. The Titans will only go as far as King Henry takes them. West - Patrick Mahomes, but this team needs to get Chris Jones re-signed.
Jones is resolved - incentives added to his contract My Eagles looked bad yesterday - but I hope that you are right Ravens had some big injuries yesterday, but I still think that they are the best team in the division. Not sold on the Lions I did enjoy seeing the overhyped Seahawks lose to Stafford
Hell of a game last night. I took the Jets when they were down 10 in the 2nd quarter on the money line and when that FG bounced in thought I was screwed. Then the amazing defense and a punt return for a walk off TD sealed it. Was awesome. Zach Wilson shouldn't be in the NFL. Jets might be the one team that would improve right now with Kap.
At least they got him signed for the season... I figured the Eagles would have a fight on their hands with the Patriots. The defense definitely bailed out Mick Sirianni at the end of the game - dangerous/stupid call going for it on 4th and 2 at midfield. Damn shame about J.K. Dobbins. My biggest question about the Ravens is if Lamar Jackson is ever going to stop choking in the playoffs (?). And no one's been more overhyped than Geno Smith. The 'Hawks are never going to win a Supe with him at QB.
Oh, and good riddance to the bad rubbish that destroyed the once proud football franchise in Washington DC....
Yes they did. But being a homer means there's always a bright side. Namely they didn't get their arse humiliated. I don't expect them to do much better than a playoff game or maybe 2. Hoping for more is foolish. Goff proved inconsistent again as did the team as a whole. Still, they're tied for first in their division and it's a weak division. Should get one playoff game out of that. And I've learned over the years with Detroit teams, they don't ever just load up and go for broke. Takes 3 or 4 years to break into the top tier. And I like my odds of living another 4 or 5 years. Go Lions!
The Lions defense lives! OK, next is Green Bay, who they beat to end last season, on Thursday night. Let's go Lions!
Jet's are hilariously bad on offense, historically good on defense. I would be trying to do ANYTHING right now to get a decent QB.
Attention: Detroit 34 - Green Bay 20 Lions in sole possession of first place in the NFC North. Win one before I die!
Bucket list item; Go see Bears v Chiefs (I’m a Bears fan; husband a Chiefs fan.) We started the beer around noon as we were setting up for tailgating at Arrow head. The score was ridiculous; lackluster game all around. Experience, though? Off the chart fun. Final score? 98 to 10 or something….. lol. We were toasty by the end. My sister-in-law was DD. The Super Bowl Champ tax was ridiculous. $400 for nosebleed, but there really aren’t bad seats at Arrowhead. We had an awesome view.
Ya can't beat seeing a game in person, especially playoff games. My favorite memories are from when the Redskins played in old RFK Stadium. The last time I was in that dump was the season after they won Super Bowl XXVI and the fans and environment were absolutely nuts. You had the Hogettes and all the other crazies who'd dress up for games but my favorite was a group of four or five dudes who called themselves The You Crew. They'd roam the stadium wearing big Burgundy and Gold fros and foam #1 fingers looking for the fans of the visiting teams and when they found them they'd all stop and point their foam fingers at them and chant "YOU! YOU! YOU! YOU!". LOL - It was great. The fans and environment in FedEx Field aren't anything like that anymore. I guess 32 years of abject futility and Daniel Snyder's disgraced ownership had a way of throttling the life out of everyone's spirit. I finally gave up on that team after the Trent Williams debacle but I hope the new owners change all that.
Detroit 42 - Carolina 24. This is getting to be a regular occurrence. We'll see how they do against the Bucs next week.
My Buffalo Bills had two back-to-back games with outstanding defense, and in the second of them we humiliated the Dolphins. Then we went to London to play Jax. Disaster. The team looked zonked and sleepy. We lost. But much worse, we also lost 3 essential defenders for the season (White, Milano and Jones), and had 2 others injured (Benford, Rosseau). From one of the best defenses in the league, we became banged up, missing 5 starters (and like I said, 3 of them won't be returning). I don't know what will happen next and what impact these injuries will have in our season. From legitimate Super Bowl contenders, maybe we'll have to lower our expectations.
