The illegals already in this country are phoning home to tell their amigos how easy it is to get into America and then their city of choice - cities which don't want them. Biden's latest action will now have even more illegals come here.

Sounded like a bad idea at first, but it only applies to those already here, and not to future immigrants. It is being done to alleviate the problem of these immigrants not being able to work and earn money to live off of, leaving them homeless, which is causing a huge problem all over the US. Let them work, earn money, and they'll be much less likely to live under bridges or in tent cities or to turn to crime to survive.

I tried over the last five days to get an oil change for my vehicle. Stopped 7 times, mostly in a conservative voting area, but tried two places in a more blue area. The problem? Not enough workers. No one to get the job done. Moved on deeper into a blue area, found a place and had to pay $125 for an oil change (had my own filter) and an air filter.
Almost every business in this region is low on workers.
Last week, a crew put a new roof on my neighbors house. Temps in the 90's. They did it one day and did a good job, and cleaned up after themselves.
Don't know if any were here illegally, but they spoke a lot of Spanish to each other. Hispanic workers are the best workers in this area, and the long term Americans don't want to work.
I don't agree with all the immigration policies, but Americans need to up their work ethic A LOT. They do have an effect.

 

They are getting temporary protective status by executive order. all perfectly legal under the law which was passed in 1990.

Blame democrats and their COVID BS... Not enough workers doesn't mean that someone who doesn't speak english or has more than a 3rd grade education is going to be able to get a job fixing your oil change demands... Perhaps you could try making an actual appointment... never mind... And just be grateful your oil change isn't 3K.... If you got out for $125, I'd say be happy.

 

It is not covid. We are having a lot of baby boomers retiring. There are not enough young people to fill those positions, and yet, the unemployment rate is still low. We do see some of the problems in Alabama and Florida where there is literally a work shortage for agricultural workers because of the anti-immigrant laws passed there. And why food prices are rising faster than the national average in those regions compared to the rest of the country.

For trade jobs, it takes two years to train someone on car mechanics and so forth. Companies like Valvoline and others pride themselves on the persons who are certified to do this type of job. And yes, there is a certification for this type of job. Can't get the job of changing oil otherwise, and these companies are not in the business of educating either.
