Well, I think, a little of what you said is true. It has been theorized, and I agree, that the religious urge grew out of natural selection. Man is a social animal and the religious urge, by most, increases the success of the group. A highly religious group will have more control of ethical standards, members will be more altruistic to other members beyond kin, group cohesion will be stronger and they will be united in repelling threats. They will be more successful than non-religious groups. There is also the knowledge of the existential dread, we all die. Man has come up with many imaginative ways incorporated in their religions to allay that fear. Religiosity is a bell curve. At the ends are fanatics and non-believers, most are in the middle. I agree people that "hate" religion are emotion based and not logical. You do not need to hate religion while being a non-believer which is more logical than being a magical thinking believer. Societies that ban religion do not get rid of the religious urge. They do not want to share power with religion and many of the religious turn their fervor to the Dear Leader and the party.
ROFL! Atheism PREDATES Xtianity by around 500 YEARS. EVERYONE is BORN an ATHEIST. Religions INDOCTRINATE young kids which is a form of Child Abuse.
Nope, I think there has always been niches for the fanatics and the skeptical in regards to religion. Depending on the time the fanatics may be exalted and the skeptics could lose their head if they didn't keep their tongue. Children are not born skeptical. They do not know the difference between the real and unreal. They can believe in the tooth fairy and their behavior can be controlled with the unreal. If they violate one of the 10 Commandments sent from Heaven they can burn in Hell forever. The Inuit tell their children that if they get too close to the ocean a monster will come out and pull them under and if they don't wear a hat the Arora borealis will pull their heads off.
Adam and Eve walked with God. All children are born alive in Christ. And Parents who don't teach their children true religion as best they know it, have failed their children.
I am a Sunni Muslim. In my opinion this is the only true religion. There is no god but God and Muhammad is His servant and messenger. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tawhid
Nope, they are born with the natural instinct to serve our Creator and recognize His uniqueness. It's their environment/parents that makes them Jews, Christians or atheists. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fitra
Faith is irrational in general, and Christianity is profoundly illogical. I understand the bible says things, but the whole system it suggests makes zero sense and appears to have no relationship with reality.
Xtofascist NPD indoctrination of children noted! Classic NPD behavior to BLAME the VICTIMS, in the instance above the parents are being MANIPULATED with an IMAGINARY sense of GUILT if they choose to NOT enable the INDOCTRINATION of their own children.
That's almost the same thing. When I say alive in Christ, I'm not referring to traditional Christianity which is the religion of men. I'm referring to the childs nearness to God who is Christ or Messiah. Then as you said, they are led and fashioned into this or that mindset by the traditions or circumstance into which they're born. That's why Jesus taught rebirth. And why Isaiah said, All we like sheep have gone astray, each to his own way.
So far, judging by the results, religion is BS fairy-tail for mind control over the masses. Yeah, dream on. The simplest explanation is not always the right one.
God the Exalted has made religion easy for His servants. Even in science, the simplest theory is most likely to be correct. There is very little in Islam that needs to be believed. Everything else can be logically derived from this. God often appeals to man's ability of understanding: Holy Quran, Sura 13, Verse 19: (Holy Quran 3:65)
Thank you for this posting. You know really well about religious things. People like you are seldom on political discussion boards.
Kids are the most powerful and vigilant critics of the God of religion that man has made under his image (aka the anthropomorphic God). https://www.godvine.com/read/12-adorable-letters-to-god-from-children-808.html
Religion is a necessity for a God to convey His truth. What humans don't know but make use of on everything and on a daily basis is the legitimate way of conveying truths.
To believe in something unknowable, unprovable, beyond human comprehension requires a leap of faith. A belief that is not rational, an assumption without evidence.
No it isn't, because it has been clearly stated and admitted to in the Bible. When someone claims faith as a prerequisite, they are making a valid argument. Faith is a normal part of most religions. Your attempt to nullify that admission of faith is invalid.
Yes, most religions require a leap of faith to believe in the supernatural if it is part of the religion.
