The WH bragged that they were flagging posts for social media to take down that were at variance with the government message. What the hell do you think censorship is?

Fake News. The Golden Triangle of MAGA has 3 sides:
    • Fair Trade not Free Trade
    • Close the Border
    • End the Endless Wars.
Of course the warmonger, open borders, keep Americans starving folks hate all three of those policies, but, they have a proven track record. I'm expecting a lot out of Trump's second term, if he's fortunate enough to have one.

Trump's 11.7 points ahead of last cycle in the contest against Bribed Joe. You may hate Musk because you are for government censorship or something.

So how do we get partisans on the left and right to come together on this when a large minority on each side sees the other as immoral and even evil? How can people that have diametrically opposing views be brought together for the betterment of society as a whole?

come together for what? We've had free speech in our country for 247 plus years the parties have never been together.

We can continue observing free speech and having particular arguments which is what's supposed to happen even if the parties don't come together they don't need to be together. They just need to be evenly matched.
Again I don't understand together for what? They can each be in their own independent camp and Free speech will still be free speech.

I guess I really don't understand what the togetherness you're speaking of means or why it needs to be.

Gee, are you telling me that Musk bought Twitter JUST to get rid of child porn being shared on that platform ? Or was it just a happy side effect ?

As for “censorship “ , to use your child porn example, you seem to think that certain content should be restricted and not be considered free speech. Would that include false propaganda ? For example, the pizzagate stories from 2016.

Musk is not perfect, and no human is.

His actions supporting free speech are significant. The actions of government agencies against free speech are more significant.

Even if he runs it in to the ground, AND it folds, that would be far better than it was before he cratered it..

Twitter was a crap pile of leftist lies and propaganda, far to close and influenced/directed by politician..

    Good riddance!

As I was reading the litany of 'Dirty David' comments in the OP, all I could think of was how partisan it was. There doesn't seem to be any accountability or acknowledgement that, as long as posts are truthful, they really aren't partisan. Not to my way of thinking. A media company or cable news station can have a right or left bent - we see both. And they can get very party specific in criticism and praise. But if they are telling a true story that makes the other side look bad, it is suddenly partisan.

~ Musk is his own man. He tells it like it is. No wonder he will soon come under the usual labels tossed at those who dare speak the truth . " Fascist " ; " Narcissist " ; "Racist " ; "Anti- Semitic" ; etc. .. :disbelief:"'

“There’s a real weakness to wanting to be liked. I don't have that weakness. Hate away ... ”

Why, yes it did. Just taking your post another step.

So child porn is not ok on a social platform (we agree) , but deliberate malicious lies designed to defame a public figure are Ok ?

So you would post a Pizzagate accusation today against , say, Biden ?

And that would be ok ?

no you asked about propaganda not defamation.

Propaganda is okay defamation can get you sued.
    no.
Yes you can say things about the president.

He does seem to have a creepy obsession with sniffing little girls.

I just said something about him and guess what it's okay.

Well, that’s where I disagree. A malicious falsehood does not deserve to be respected like free speech.

Then you don't believe in free speech.

Free speech doesn't require you respect anything

    Oh but I do.

Trade all the malicious lies you want with your fellow liars, but don’t make me read it in the paper and make me waste my time and energy refuting it.

if you did you would understand there is no ministry of Truth to determine what is it isn't true.

And you can say things that others would say were falsehoods.

You probably believe in some faucets just because most people do.
nobody makes you read and nobody makes you waste your time and energy refuting anything.

    You choose to do that.

247 years years ago all the way up until 2015, American culture had a built-in censor filter. Most of society knew what was proper and respectful to say in public without resorting to not just lies, but ******n dirty lies. The era of Trump has unleashed the shackles of self-restraint, and every crazy curmudgeon and cat lady has been elevated to the same level of discourse that Trump has reigned in. The crazy part is that many of these folks who now engage in this unfettered assault on the English language operate under the mistaken belief that others don't have a right to question their crazy wackiness.

And of course, anyone who has a basic understanding of history knows that when this level of disrespect occurs in a society, it will eventually lead to bloodshed and death.

you don't need an amendment to protect proper respectful things to say in public.

Memphis amendment was never about having filters it was about removing them.

yes or whatever reason people just thought it was okay to tell blatant lies about Trump we have recorded what he said and they will lie about what he said.

It goes all the way to the justice department their little stupid little phony baloney insurrection nonsense.

I think that Lawson 2016 broke a lot of Americans. And kind of uncovered this scam that the media has been involved in for decades.
yeah I know you'll point out that the stupid conspiracy theory about some stupid insurrection that never happened was dreamed up by ******* politicians that are angry because they're losing the public (probably because they're caught lying all the time) (Russia hoax, Ukraine hoax, kavanaugh hoax, Rittenhouse hoax, documents scandal hoax, property evaluation fraud hoax.)

I don't know why people not only accept these lies but believe them despite knowing better.

Maybe they're just concerned totally by their hatred for Donald Trump and the people that support him.
Yeah we have actual evidence of these politicians pretending there was some insurrection on the January 6th inciting violence.

They seem to chuckle with a Glee when the Court ruled on something that they didn't like.

I'm just going to come a time when these people have to learn they're not the leaders of America they are the servants.
