His company has been found criminally guilty of fraud and he and his company have been found liable for fraud.

The better question is, why should that qualify her? That’s been my point along. Should Justin Bieber be a contender too?

We live in different countries. In mine, the first amendment is a thing. The only thing qualified to speak is to speak. And, yes, Bieber has the same status as Swift or your beloved Trump in that respect.

What does the US constitution have to do with it? That was an odd swerve.

Not much, besides encouraging people to register to vote . . . a "sin" for which the fascist Trump right will never forgive her.

The US Constitution is not an "odd swerve." It's literally the foundation of all of our laws. Again, we clearly live on different planets if you don't grasp that concept.

Again, what does the US Constitution have to do with this issue? Yes it’s the foundation of our laws. How does that relate to this?

What else could possibly relate? She has as much right to talk about politics as you or anyone else does. Why do you think the Constitution doesn't matter?

Where did I ever say or even hint that she has no right to state her politics? WTF?

I have no idea where she stands politically. Seeing that she’s an entertainer, I can guess. You’re the one who invented the political aspect to this out of the blue.

The US Constitution or her politics has no bearing on why I think she’s not the best person to be honored in this way.

    Sheesh.

Trump had to pay Millions in a Judgement he Lost in court where he cheated Veterans thru his Fraudulent Charity

" A New York judge has ruled that President Trump must pay $2 million in damages to settle claims that the Trump Foundation misused funds. The money will go to a group of charities, and the foundation is in the process of dissolving.

The case is tied to a televised fundraiser for veterans held by Trump in Iowa when he was running for president in January 2016. Trump had said the funds raised would be distributed to charities. But according to court documents, the Trump Foundation improperly used $2.82 million it received from that fundraiser.

According to the judgment, that money "was used for Mr. Trump's political campaign and disbursed by Mr. Trump's campaign staff, rather than by the Foundation," which is unlawful. However, Justice Saliann Scarpulla says the funds did eventually reach charity organizations supporting veterans. "

The entire world doesn't run on politics.
Politics is likely not a concern in choosing a POTY for Time. It's their magazine, they choose who they wish.

Then why did you bring politics into this?

I asked a clarifying question to someone who inexplicably inserted politics.

    Jeebus.

Then why ask me why "I" brought politics in it. If you knew I didn't.

The OP actually brought politics into the thread
    1. Putting it in the Political opinions and beliefs subforum
    2. Mentioning why trump members are upset with her choosing.

I took my girlfriend even though I hate Taylor’s music. It was a miserable experience. But she definitely deserves person of the year for all the money she is making and the significant positive impact she is having on the economy. I also think she has balls for openly defying the vile violent Trumpers.

I made no mention of her political views or her first amendment rights.

For crying out loud. Someone said something about her not being a Republican. I asked that person a clarifying question, then you went to her first amendment right of free speech.

So, income is the criteria for that? How has she openly defied the “vile violent Trumpers?”

Nor did I. So you asking why "I" brought politics into this was merely a deflection on your part.

This is a political and belief forum in a website about politics. And you wonder why politics might get into a thread?
It's part of the OP, as I said. It was in the thread from post #1.

Also, I said nothing about her free speech rights.
Do you know the posts you respond to?
    You must be confused.

Her boyfriend made a pro-vaccine commercial. She supports LGBT+ rights.

If you are a famous person, righties want you to shut up...unless of course you share the same beliefs as them.

Are you denying that you inexplicably introduced her first amendment right to free speech?

She is so "commercialized" now , that one can lose site of her talent.

Would I see her in performance?? Nope.

Yes? I certainly don't recall it. Nor does it even matter as it's not related to the topic.

    edit...
In fact, I just went back and looked at my posts.
I am certain I said nothing about her's or anyone's free speech rights.

    Maybe it was you.
