The court has determined he committed persistent, systematic fraud. The fine is not about punishment. It is putting him in the position he would have been in if he had not committed the fraud.

Trump told the banks that his property had more total floor area than it really did and in doing so inflated it's value. Trump signed the declaration of truth. That is fraud. Title deeds do not show what is built on parcels of land, just shows ground area.

If I tell you my land is five acres and you buy it on that basis, when you discover that it is only one acre, have I defrauded you?

DB did their analysis, made adjustments to the valuations, set the interest rate, and granted the loan. The loan was paid back on time with interest. No harm, no fraud.

I don't like Trump, I don't feel sorry for him and if he will run against Biden, I will vote Biden, but I think if the same crime was done by Hunter Biden or Clinton's company the verdict would be totally different. Democrats have too much power. If Nikki Haley will run against Biden, I will not vote or vote for some independent candidate.

If they had a true picture of Trump's financial situation they would have charged more interest. The difference between the interest they WOULD have charged if Trump's SOFCs had been accurate and what they did charge is the harm.
