In a recent conversation with Dr. John Gartner, a prominent psychologist and contributor to the bestselling book "The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump: 27 Psychiatrists and Mental Health Experts Assess a President," the former faculty member at Johns Hopkins University told me that based on Trump's speech, memory, recall, and other behavior, he appears to be “hypomanic” and cognitively deteriorating at a rapid rate: https://www.salon.com/2024/03/01/li...lug-dr-john-gartner-on-accelerating-dementia/ _____________________________________ There is one constant with Trump: the tactic of projection. If he accuses you of being corrupt, it's because he knows he's corrupt himself. Same principle if he claims that Biden is a threat to democracy. Where it gets interesting is when he goes on and on about the cognitive test he passed. It's a recurrent theme in almost all his speeches. And if he talks about it, it's because he knows that his faculties are in decline.
There has been speculation about Trump having dementia for some time. Dementia is something that comes on over time
Lol right. No one but a small percentage of leftist take this seriously. The ridiculous nature of the claim is obvious to everyone who can give a non partisan judgment. But by all means, keep pushing this narrative, its been quite amusing.
Has anyone noticed how for the last 8 years all the leftist head shrinks focus on Trump and not Biden when Biden's mental state is quickly falling apart as we watch?
Not really. What I have noticed is that, in a thread about just anything, the usual suspects always bring up Trump. Nice try though and I'm looking forward to seeing you make a similar reply in the thread about just anything where Trump is dragged into it.
Why does Trump keep talking about the cognitive test he claims to have passed? He's the only politician in US history to boast of having taken a cognitive test.
In my book any medical professional that publicly diagnose people without meeting and examining them in person loses ALL professional credibility. I can understand him having a personal opinion but to speculate publicly is unprofessional and way out of line.
Why? Trump is a public figure and we have thousands of hours of recordings of him. Would you disbelieve a psychiatrist who claimed Trump had narcissistic traits?... when it's obvious to virtually all Americans.
Can't really complain about Trump's cognitive decline when a walking vegetable is inhabiting the white house.
Yeah that's what it is when you ignore the severe cognitive decline of the president to moan about Trump. This thread is whataboutism.
I wouldn’t wish dementia on anyone just because of what it does to their family but a significant portion of the elderly unfortunately face it. I think both of the presumptive nominees have moments that appear as such and I think that is more of a damning condemnation of America and our voters than I do the two men themselves. That said — Biden’s administration leans heavily on the cabinet and staff while the trump administration is one man that rules with absolute authority.
If it wasn't for Biden's obviously accelerating dementia, Trumps name would not be mentioned. He's got three political witch hunts going, an unconstitutional fine and someone that has never earned an honest dollar in her life, giggling on TV about seizing his assets. Any normal mortal would have collapsed by now, but he won't give the haters the satisfaction. Well there is always Kamela! Lol!
Why? It is fairly obvious even when you take in account what he says in the video. All he has are observations AND only observations in a limited capacity. As the doctor said he has no access to MRI results or other medical test results. He does not have the luxury of interacting and questioning the patient. Tell in me all honesty do you believe he is acting professionally?
It is brilliant and it is effective. This is why they talk endlessly about Trump's authoritarianism as they engage in the worst 3rd world authoritarianism in my lifetime. I wish I could say this kind of gas-lighting doesn't work but it does. Honestly I don't believe they will ever let Trump be President. If lawfare doesn't work and if vote rigging doesn't work, they almost certainly will kill him.
That's the opinion of a psychiatrist, not just anyone. He notes, as do millions of Americans, Trump's inability to finish sentences in speeches, change subjects unexpectedly, mix up names and so on. Elected MAGA members have come to rationalize Trump's claim that he won the election against Obama, or that Nikki Haley was responsible for Capitol Hill security during the riot.... For you there's nothing to report?
This is my whole problem with this doctor. It is one thing for Joe Public to speculate and make claims but he is a professional. His judgement SHOULD be more respected. The problem I have is he has never met and examined the patient. He has had no opportunity to run test, to ask questions, to interact with him. IS this NOT what a medical professional would do to evaluate someone? He has done none of those things and STILL offered a medical diagnoses. That is why I said he loses ALL credibility.
Trump is a public person. There are thousands of hours of video footage of him. We were talking about someone who stutters because he stutters when he speaks. You could say someone is too emotional because he often cries when he's in public. Trump often gets his name wrong, mixes up events, has recurrent pronunciation problems and constantly changes the subject of his speeches. Everyone knows it, we can all see it. One psychiatrist - and he's far from alone - claims these are signs of dementia. Would you go so far as to deny that Trump has certain cognitive problems?
That's a good question. If Trump really had dementia, do you think he'd let his lawyers argue that he was mentally incompetent to stand trial?
I like the way Charlie Hurt put it - count the number of gaffs per word spoken. Who do you think comes out ahead in that contest?
