My mother has dementia and admits it - she can't remember things I said 10 seconds ago. My mother in law has dementia, schizo and paranoia and according to her everyone else has mental problems except for her.

I really don't see how a rational person can think a medical diagnoses from viewing hours of public video in anyways is equivalent to medical test like MRI scans, cognitive tests, questioning, and interaction with the patient. Are you really wanting to say they are equivalent? Do you really want to argue this is professional behavior?

I am one of the most outspoken people on this forum about have mandatory retirement age and term limits for politicians. I don't doubt the possibility of cognitive decline in Trump just as I wouldn't be surprised that anyone his age suffers from it. My ISSUE is a medical PROFESSIONAL made claims publicly without ever examining the person. At best he seriously handicapped his ability to make a proper diagnoses and showed his lack of professionalism. At worst he is an idiot that just wants attention.

 

I don't deny that a true diagnosis would require more physical tests, especially an MRI and private interviews.

Nevertheless, you can't deny that Trump has more and more cognitive problems that we can all see.

Trump slurs his words at time and never can recover or 'find" them so he continues on as a cover. Joe might butcher some words altogether, stumbling, stuttering over them but I don't think I've seem him just completely get the work totally wrong. If any of you have never called one kid by another kids name, pat yourself on the back. If you call your wife by the wrong name, you deserve what you get ! Pretty good armchair analysis of Trump's mental defects and ills IMO as a layman.

I am glad we are making progress and finally agree that a proper medical diagnoses requires more than reviewing video footage.

I have always said all old people suffer cognitive decline. I personally think the risk is high that anyone his age is suffering from some cognitive decline and that is ONE of the reasons why I believe there should be age limits for ALL politicians. McConnell, Pelosi, Biden are all too old IMO.

I have seen what Gartner has said and that is why I said he has lost all professional credibility for me. I have not read what the other 36 have said but if they are going on the limb and diagnosing Trump with dementia and speaking about it publicly without ever examining him or looking at test result, then I have I have no respect for their professionalism either.

I see you don't like it when a thread about person A has someone bring up person B. Do you want to know who does that in just about EVERY thread regarding Biden? Care to take some wild guesses? If you want it to stop, then tell your compadres to stop doing it.

Apart from what Dr. Gartner thinks, we can all see that Trump has more and more problems with his elocution, he often gets names wrong, mixes up events and dates in almost all his speeches.

And it becomes all the more embarrassing when a GOP elected official is forced to go to the media to explain that Trump wasn't wrong when he said he beat Obama in 2017 because he believes it's Obama who's still pulling the strings in the Democratic Party....

 

Look, I dislike whataboutisms and deflections apparently as much as you do, but there are times when legit comparisons need to be made. For eight years Trump has been diagnosed by shrinks who see him on TV yet similar diagnoses haven't been made of Biden. I think a reasonable question to ask is why and I believe the answer is partisanship.

Also, recently Trump gave a speech for a long time when the teleprompter wasn't working, so he ad libed the whole thing. I can't imagine the other guy doing something similar.

As I said earlier, if a gaff to word spoken ratio was taken, of all the people running for president, Trump would certainly not lead the pack.
