NBC’s McDaniel mess threatens to explode The uproar inside NBC over Ronna McDaniel’s hiring spilled into Monday morning as more of the network’s top personalities denounced the deal with the former RNC chair, escalating a battle over the relationship between powerful media companies and Donald Trump’s loyalists. The decision to hire McDaniel, which was unanimously supported by top network executives, has already divided and destabilized one of America’s most storied news organizations, with internal dismay flaring on text chains and Slack channels since the deal was announced late last week. https://www.politico.com/news/2024/03/25/nbc-ronna-mcdaniel-chuck-todd-00148772 Too late, it already exploded. Because I know what we'll hear from Repubs on this matter let me address that first. The intense blowback to hiring Ronna has nothing to do with objecting to a principled conservative voice being hired. It has to do with a facilitator of Trump's attempt to subvert democracy being hired. Chuck Todd said it better than I can. Todd expanded on his comments Monday, writing on X: “The issue isn’t about ideology, it’s about basic truth. Those trying to make this a left-right issue are being intentionally dishonest. This is about whether honest journalists are supposed to lend their credibility to someone who intentionally tried to ruin ours.” My guess is NBC's brass made the hire thinking it would bring ideological diversity to the network. What a colossal mis-judgement. What they brought to the network is this bullshyte........ When the Republican Party voted to censure two of its own members of Congress last week at its winter meeting in Salt Lake City, it justified the move in part by declaring that efforts to investigate the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection amounted to the persecution of individuals engaging in “legitimate political discourse.” Those three words have since sparked a massive backlash among GOP senators who fear the resolution could jeopardize the party’s fortunes in the midterm elections. The move has also led to days of attempted political cleanup by the Republican National Committee over the language and the accompanying censures of Reps. Liz Cheney (Wyo.) and Adam Kinzinger (Ill.). While RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and party officials say they did not intend to defend violent insurrectionists in the resolution — which passed the committee of grass-roots members overwhelmingly — the words have been widely criticized by Republicans and Democrats alike. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/02/08/gop-legitimate-political-discourse/ https://www.politifact.com/factchec...air-mcdaniels-false-claim-about-persecution-/ She's an election denier who participated in Trump's fake elector scheme. Needless to say employees at NBC and MSNBC are furious and they haven't been shy about expressing their fury. The decision to hire her has been condemned by just about every on air personality that had the opportunity to do so. MSNBC has announced Ronna will not appear on any of their shows. This is a full on revolt that I can't see going any other way but NBC brass acknowledging their error and letting Ronna go.
I think the main complaint is that not only was she an election denier but also was involved in supporting Trump's actions to get the 2020 election result overturned. In the same interview on NBC on the weekend she kept claiming there were irregularities in the 2020 election related to voting and the voting process. It was litigated and no actual evidence was provided to the courts to date. The main complaint is that she did and is still undermining democracy and confidence in the voting system.
I saw it. That was her opportunity to disassociate herself from the lies entirely but she gagged. She could have said how much she regretted helping spread the Big Lie but didn't. Whatever chance she had to redeem herself was lost.
So, McDaniel was an election denier! Well, all of NBC was a supporter of the Trump/Russia collusion hoax. They were all wrong at NBC but they are still on the air. If Chuck Todd is correct, then name one conservative journalist who does work for NBC. Yeah, just one. NBC is nothing but a large nest of liberals who think they are non-partisan -- what a joke!!!
Not a hoax. Your attempt to analogize threats of violence from Trump's mob with reporting on this.......... A Collusion Reading Diary: What Did the Senate Intelligence Committee Find? https://www.lawfaremedia.org/articl...y-what-did-senate-intelligence-committee-find .......is summarily dismissed.
The problem is that there is no longer ideological... ANTHING in the Republican Party. You either bow down to Trump, or you're out. There is no ideology, only loyalty to Trump. However, I am interested to see what happens. If she's on the NBC payroll, can she be REQUIRED to appear on programs like Rachel Maddow's, Chris Hayes or... maybe Joe Scarborough. I'd like to see her answer the difficult questions about what transpired during her time as an RNC Chair without the interviewer having to handle them with a silk glove. It could be interesting. If she doesn't than it's definitely a waste of time....
While the "uproar" is silly, I cannot say that I am shedding a tear because the turncoat Republican (who is no doubt being paid handsomely by NBC in an election year for the express purpose of providing a few negative soundbites about Trump) is not being embraced by her new "coworkers". Good riddance to her. She will collect her contractual money regardless if they fire her because of this outrage, and if they get rid of her before she spews their desired attacks on Trump, then so be it. Oh well.
We get it. This person has some tie to Trump so you want them to be destroyed. What's up with liberals and their capacity for hate? NASTY!!!!
From the sounds of it, NBC is plenty muddied as it is. You said yourself these guys would have no problem having another conservative on, finding one seems to me to be an obvious potential solution.
I don't believe I did. I said...The intense blowback to hiring Ronna (from NBC employees) has nothing to do with objecting to a principled conservative voice being hired. It has to do with a facilitator of Trump's attempt to subvert democracy being hired.
They hate anyone that doesn't hate Trump as much as they do. "How much do you hate Trump" is the new litmus test for the Left.
So you’re saying they’re biased against conservatives and they’d object to any such being hired. Thanks for the clarification
The irony of the people who pushed Russia Russia Russia and a pee tape can’t handle a person who gave her thoughts on an election much like Gore, Abrams and Clinton did.
The astounding thing here is the entitlement of those preparing the "mutiny"... Laughable. Fire all of them for being horrible employees. Of course, if NBC decided simply to shut down as a result..... dare to dream.
Since the objection to McDaniel was her dishonesty not her political stances your challenge would be better phrased as... NAME ONE HONEST CONSERVATIVE How about Mitt Romney? Joe Walsh? Liz Cheney? These are actual Conservative who look on people like McDaniel as traitors not only to the GOP but to Conservatism as a whole. The response, or lack thereof to the challenge, demonstrates why actual journalists revolted.
Name an honest "Republican/Conservative" and I'm sure they'll be considered. But you can't so they won't.
The main complaint is that she does not oppose and denounce Trump. Because, after all, opposing viewpoints can not and should not be tolerated or expressed at DNC propaganda organizations. The modern progressive mandate is that anyone who doesn't toe the official woke propaganda line must be censored, de-platformed and canceled. The hiring of Ronna McDaniel presents a problem for that mandate.
