yes, the convert or kill mentality was alive and well with some early on when Christians discovered America
I've given you everything you need should you decide to engage in intellectual honesty. I appreciate your confession that you are unwilling to read my post before misrepresenting them.
I refuse to play your silly little game. I don't care about your statements to other people and they have nothing to do with me.
I'm sorry that you think that basic intellectual honesty is a "game." Feel free to return to making up dishonest bull **** because that you think reading a single post in fewer than two pages require "scouring" on your part.
So all you have left is to narcissistically attack me. This is boring and I'll permit you the last word.
I made a statement about the Bible and genocide. You pretended you couldn't understand and that the Holocaust must be in the Bible somewhere. You then pretended that reading what I actually said before making up your strawman was some sort of hardship. And then you label a desire for basic intellectual honesty to be "narcissistic." I'm sorry that the concept of honesty bores you.
I agree it was culturally a Christian Nation just as now I consider it a narcissistic Nation culturally. You don't ever have a Christian Nation culturally without it being influenced by the Gospel. The Gospel is the basis of a culturally Christian Nation but some prefer the "Religion" of it all.
So the OT and the writings of Paul are the "religion of man" and should be discarded? For once we agree.
If God abandoned us then, you might as well forget Him. Deists are no better off than Pagans or atheists. Karl Marx would welcome you to worship the State as your god.
I'm sorry you think so little of people like Jefferson, Franklin, and Paine, especially since their defense of individual liberty is WHY you hate them.
Question Yardmeat.... since in your wisdom you know better than God since it is apparent you do not seek Him, how would you handle the following scenario..... You have chosen a people to show the world how you desire "relationship with all". You are going to find a place for them to flourish. There is land occupied by a culture that relishes child sacrifice and human bondage. It is entrenched in their culture. Do you just move them to "co-exist" with that culture? Or do you try to promote them to holiness? If so, how? How do you prefer to co-exist with evil when you yourself is Holy (that is since you place yourself as knowing better than God)

You are the historian.....how many years after the last book of the Bible was the Koran written? Who copied who? So I will wait for you to display just how Paul was ok with executig anyone.
some worship themselves. The advent of "selfies " made that apparent. Everyone has something they worship. Jesus said "deny yourself, take up your cross and follow Me."
I don't hate them. They are confused as you are. You deny the miracles of the Bible, so I know you deny the Resurrection as well as the prophecies. Even the prophecy that declared your "Religion". "Many will be godlike in form, but they deny the power thereof".
Why not just declare that there is no God regardless the acts of men being good or bad. But by what measure is a thing good or bad? Without God, who can say? If wiping out a neighboring tribe ensures the preservation of ones own, then it is good...unless yours is the one wiped out. Perhaps it is justified...who's to say but those involved in the matter. Perhaps the dying would lament, "if only we'd made peace in the day of grace, then dying would not be upon us". If God lives, then he is perfect. And if he says to do thus and so, then it is good, however messy the matter. No one can say with any confidence that there is no God, because one would have to know all there is to know. But one only needs to know one thing, which is that he lives, to say so. That requires the existence of a living God. But who's to know that without first knowing, or the giving and receiving of a gift thru the veil.
There have been culturally Christian nations, without having anything to do with the Gospel. All of Europe was once culturally Christian, and they burned people on the stake, which had absolutely nothing to do with the Gospel. The Gospel is the news of Christ dying on the cross as a payment of people's sins, while Christianity (the religion) has been used as a political power tool. For a long time the average people were not even aware of the Gospel, because the politicized church would not let people own Bibles. Were the founding fathers born again Christians, or cultural Christians? We don't know. Maybe some were true Christians and some were not.
Invoking God does nothing to solve moral dilemmas or answer the question of what is good or bad. You are referring to Divine Command Theory, which isn't even Biblical.
