Two fans in the cellar and a wild woman wanting a track put around the cellar floor. If I have to do it myself this winter its getting done. The sump pump is not enough. I'm gonna get a small dump to dump some dirt here and regrade this property. We never had a problem till they built behind us and the guy is pumping water from his property in our direction. We were very polite to him in discussing the problem and he is an (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*). So in the dark of the night my guess is an Italian woman is going to divert his hidden pipe that is not so hidden in his direction. lol

Today is a beautiful day here. Blue sky and a breeze. I haven't listened to the weather. Hopefully, no more rain for a while. Everything is so saturated now.

It's what I plan for my entryway, at least. I've been threatening to pull that carpet up since we bought that house.

Oh, and the project I was talking about helping her with was diverting that pipe back to her neighbor's house....:)

So was I, although I have been known to tile anything from floors to walls to countertops.
    Heh.
This is about field tiling, but it can be done around a house as well.
Took us a week or less.

I need a project. I've wanted to cover my kitchen counter tops and backsplash with mosaic tile. I want those sheets of tiles that you glue and then grout. I don't have lots of counter space, so it shouldn't be that expensive.

I had water that use to run toward and on to my patio. Instead of grading the entire property I had them dig a eight foot deep round hole where the water was running from, and put a man hole type grate over it. It's supported by cement naturally...
Never had a problem since, not even the Hurricane water could fill that hole....[a Ladder is kept inside just in case...] it's made of Aluma,,ALuuumi,,Alu,,,Oh crap that metal stuff....:)

Kimi, yes come up. We will sit on the deck check out my new herb...s and plot. He wont stand a chance. Although we cant laugh when we are doing it. Only when he starts bailing out water from his cellar.

Shangrila, you tilled your yard and it cut down on water seeping into the cellar? How did that work? Didn't more water get absorbed into the soil after it was tilled? Problem is we get his runoff. A small river when it rains hard. I diverted it to the edge of the property but the ground then becomes saturated.

Flounder, you had them dig a 8ft hole? Where does the water in the hole go? I dont understand. An 8' hole would fill up quickly, no?

    Here!

Yeah, Daisy's been keeping me entertained over in the succulent thread.

As for the wildfires, all those around Austin are out, except Bastrop...but it is now completely surrounded! yeah!
That fire has consumed more than 1700 homes, and claimed 4 human lives and countless livestock.

Heard Shepard Smith say Bastrop was 2 hours from Austin - I said "wha??!"
It's actually about a 30 minute drive from the State Capitol bldg to dwntwn Bastrop! ... and little but woodlands (and homes) to separate the two.

I cannot explain to anyone how wonderful the break in temps has been. From 112 to 95, it's huge, especially after 70+ days. Night temps in the 60s has graced us with a week of sleeping with the windows open to the breezes.

Unfortunately, Sunday, 9/11, it is due to return to triple digits, perhaps for another month!

And btw - you leave Ms Smartie be -- whatever she's doing she needs to keep it up!

*sticks nose in fridge* where's the brownies?

It all started as a little boy when I was six,,it's a craving that turned into an obsession....Ever eat a Cannoli all by yourself in a dark closet? I have,,,they taste better...LOL

My dream date is a woman in garters and White stockings holding a plate of Cannolis, with a little cream dripped on her thigh.....I know,,,I need help...
