They paved the way in spite of all the PC crap that was out there during that time. From what I have seen lately, the PC thing is mostly gone, and the military is training pilots, great pilots, no matter what their position might be when they pee.

Oh, no, you are not a Naval Aviator by any chance? I was the OPSO of TraWingTWO, NAS Kingsville, when we were ordered to transition the Navy's first three female jet pilots. That was interesting. After a few years of working the PC out of the system we now have some outstanding pilots that just happen to be female.

I retired from the Marine Corps in the summer of 1988. Please do not tell me how old you were then.
