As for Liam Neeson, if this is what he wants I hope he goes through with it. May Allah SWT bless him for it. The call to prayer is a beautiful, however I don't think it's enough to convert people. Maybe that is one reason, but it seems his experience in Istanbul is the reason he had considered it.

Whatever decision he make, I'm sure he'll make whatever's best for him. Whether that is Islam or not, it's up to him.

He's not becoming a Muslim. That would require a disciplined conviction, which he's already proven he doesn't have by first claiming how devout he was as a Catholic growing up.

What he is is a fickle actor who is best ignored off the screen.

On the screen, he's among my favorites. Off the screen, he is, apparently, a fruitcup. Just as so many of them are.

 

Cat Stevens was a peaceful hippy before converting to Islam. After he became Yusuf Islam, he said he would want to see Salman Rushdie burned alive for insulting Islam. He also said that if he was in an Islamic state, he would carry out Rushdie's execution, personally. He later denied making these statements (taqiyya).

This couldn't be because the guy just lost his wife, tragically, about a year ago and he is looking for some answers in his life...nah let's just make fun of him on the internet. People have times when their faith is tested, I'm glad I never had to deal with it in a public life. Instead of hating on the dude and giving him a reason to see why Christianity can be looked at as hypocritical at times, people who call themselves Christians should be praying for this man and many like him who may have lost his way and hope he can find peace with whatever he chooses.

There's a term that we use here in the States called "gone native". It sounds like Mr. Neeson has gone native on us. It is a phenomenon where a person is placed outside of his or her normal element and adapts to the environs that he or she have occupied themselves within. It's happened to me a few times when I've gone out to some native villages up here and "reverted", so to speak. I'm sure if you went out into the Outback and shacked up with some abbos you might experience a similar thing there, Mak.

Personally, I don't fault Mr. Neeson for thinking about converting. Catholicism isn't much better than Islam, in my opinion. That's why I gave up the faith early in life and became an agnostic. I didn't want to be associated with any kiddie diddlers.
