Let me see? Where to start? AHHHHH here we go. I do not have many issues with countries around the world. Sure I may say a thing or two about some happenings in the middle east but that is that. I do not get into domestic policy. Why the hell is it that every (*)(*)(*)(*)ing body wants to say something about our internal policy? Sure anything that affects you directly is your business but why the hell are you worried about our guns? I have seen a few threads floating around from AU about this issue but you gave your up. What is the issue? Are you jealous? Is this one of those childish things?
The day you stop sticking your noses into the affairs of other countries is the day people refuse to care about goings on in the US. Fact is, such an outcome will never happen. Most of us have a vested interest in seeing the US bobble along. Attributing it to simply "jealousy" is disingenuous, and revels a lack of understanding of the world at large.
What we do affects them. We're so big that we're everybody's neighbor. Kind of hard for people not be affected by the things that affect them.
How many times do Americans get into the internal politics of AU? Mind you Obama did not do the US any favors. But what would happen if we took our noses out of international affairs (military withdraw and financial as well)? Defended only out direct interests?
Would probably make a lot of SE Asia (including Oz, maybe) pretty jittery as China asserts its influence.
The US government frequently gets involved in the internal affairs of other nations, particularly when it comes to the war on drugs and on intellectual property legislation. As for this "we" thing, I don't work for the government and I am not responsible for what it does. Are you?
We do seem to be pretty big buttinskys over other country's armament, now that I think about it. That was the rationale for attacking Iraq, wasn't it? They were (actually not) armed and we didn't like that?
Pretty much; just internal policy that only affects citizens in the US. As far as foreign policy? Hell yeah they need to worry about it because as soon as the captains of industry over here see no profit in it all bets are off.
We are a collective. I really don't give a (*)(*)(*)(*) about how they feel about our foreign policy. Hell I will protest with them to get us out of the international politics of other nations.
Only whenever a large portion of those drugs are aimed at our own borders; and illegally so. Moreover, this war on drugs is executed, unexceptionally, with the approval and cooperation of the governments of the countries in question...
Why would anyone in a faintly civilised country be jealous? The standards in just about everything are being set outside the USA.
I have seen too many critisizims of us him laws and how we do not need guns. Why? Are we hurting anyonee?
You mean we should let your boats come to New Zealand again? After banning them for a quarter of a century? We are not Japanese, you know.
When you have a culture steeped in guns and it affects peoples' way of thinking about violence as a quick solution to everything, it also affects things like foreign policy. When Americans sit at home and produce more pollution per capita, and consume more natural resources and energy per capita than the rest of the world, that affects the lives of people elsewhere.
Do not deal with the US and do not watch the news about the US. I do not have broadcast television in my home because I have not use for what they want me to see. I read what I want to read. Tell the politicians to straiten up I mean they are elected elsewhere are they not? Never heard that one before. And what is stopping the rest of the world? I mean we are paying for it and our Chinese money supports many countries when you consider we buy their exports. Sounds to me like they need to jump on their own government about these things.
You know I asked a question and it mainly pertained to guns. I think there is some perception that guns are some sort of evil thing. I have never shot anyone with my personal firearms. I know of one person who has shot and killed someone and it was deemed justifiable. The culture of gun violence is on the liberal media and the liberal joke of a justice system we have in the US, not the legal gun owning populace of the US. If it were not for the illegal gun ownership and crimes committed with those weapons you would never know about it.
We are the greatest Empire ever on earth, but the most disliked because of our pushy greed. While you may not like a gun, or guns in general, there could come a time when a gun will save your life. If we do not take action to preserve this nation and do so soon, we will crumble sooner rather than later.
Hell most American do not like it and then they go spend money on the cheapest crap they can. Greed abounds in this nation and until people stop being so cheap we will continue to fall. The greed? They (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) about their pay and are unwilling to support their brother by supporting him in the way of making wise shopping decisions and demanding American made products. Then people (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) about welfare (I (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) about it as well). Well the greed and the desire for more for less to keep up with the Jonses drove jobs out. Wow that was off topic. Crap I think I hate most Americans.
This is the sort of jingoistic claptrap that makes people laugh at Americans. We are not even in the top three of great empires in history.
"[J]ingoistic claptrap," huh? Is that phraseology (and the sentiment that underlies it) original? Oh, wait. Let me guess... An interesting observation, that. Especially considering the fact that I have never looked upon America as an "empire"...
