I do have Christian beliefs... but I know that America is far too religious for our own good. Or... we are overly-religious in ways that aren't good. We're breeding vicious, pious, religious-hypocrites in bulk.

Sodom/Gommorah? (Say what you want.) But if Jesus stepped up in here TODAY... He'd most likely go after every GREED-MONGERING, PREDATOR-CAPITALIST, and (especially) RELIGIOUS HYPOCRITE first.

We have people dying in America, because we revere and worship WEALTH... and most of our politicians are along for the ride. People can't even afford to get sick here (but they do), and America is reluctant to help the sick, because we think it is better or right to keep the WEALTHY as rich as they are. We are literally BLINDED by the fact that money is NOT the most important thing; we eat our own hands and feet (sometimes even this nation's children and the elderly)... all in honor of those with WEALTH.

If we want to get seriously BIBLICAL, then we might also consider, that where PEOPLE put their MONEY... is where their HEARTS are. So, you anti-gay, FAR-OUT Right Wingers and religious hypocrites... consider yourselves before you step out in your foolish assumptions about what God could or may do and for what reasons.

We all have sin; and it is obvious.

I maybe wrong but isn't god supposed to be the judge not his followers. Also most Christians I see don't appear to act very Christ-like. As christians aren't you supposed to resist temptation not force others to live up to your morals. Most importantly it isn't the role of the goverment to dictate moral values. This country's main problem is everyone always knows how to tell each other how to live. I personal don't approve of homosexuality but I don't believe it my right to determine how others live. It is my right to live how I wish. If you allow every aspect of life to be regulated sooner rather than later it will be your life that is regulated.

There's no reason to get upset. Sodom will be rebuilt in all its former glory. You might be able to get a lot with a view when that happens. Start saving up your money because they will go fast.

 

I have often wondered if that chapter was misunderstood; all the western civilizations around that period had a law of guestfriendship...that if you gave someone a place in your house or city you were obligated to take care of them and not let them come to harm.

God announced the condemnation of Sodom and Gommorrah BEFORE the strangers (angels) ever even entered the city and stayed with Lot.

He told Abram (Abraham) about his plan to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah.

Abram raised the possibility of there being IIRC 50 righteous people in the cities and that it would not be good for them to die just to punish the city.

God agree and said he would not destroy it if there were that many righteous.

Abram continued to reason with God and finally God agreed not to destroy the cities if there were onliy TEN righteous people living there.

After that point, God sent the angels to extract Lot and his family.

Obviously, there were not even 10 righteous people in cities that had probably thousands there.

From what is strongly implied, there were only four righteous people in the cities (Lot, his daughters, and his wife).

 

Maybe it had something to do with the lack of refrigeration in those days. Regardless of the health consequences, God was interested in setting HIS people apart from the heathen nations around them.

I don't know if Santorum actually mentioned S&G per se, I just know that he speaks of a biblical GLOOM and DOOM; somehow inferring that the Left is responsible (or that if we don't select a Right-wing candidate), destruction will befall us. I think he is full of BS.
