http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2012/mar/11/solar-power-mojave-desert-tribes Obama is turning out to be just as big an oppressor of Native Americans as any white man. He is building solar panels over their sacred burial grounds and destroying the habitats of desert animals the Native Americans consider sacred. Which makes sense because Obama is simply a big d--k. Meanwhile, Obama's greedy friends and supporters are getting rich on this boondoggle while it lasts. But the bubble will burst because solar power is a totally inefficient way to get power, and investors are going to figure that out eventually. And when that happens Obama is not going to have enough billions of dollars to prop up the whole industry.
If wildlife can flourish near pipelines and off shores oil rigs, I'm sure it can flourish near a group of solar panels. Precautions can be taken not to disturb burial grounds. For a group that demands more energy, it's pure hypocrisy from Obama haters to be opposed to alternative fuels and renewable energies.
It's not really that, it's the irony, and that in theory, a lot of those who support Obama should be opposed to this.
What a peculiar sudden awakening of Right Wing "concern" for Native Americans and tortoises. Well, may the Native Americans are hoping SOME power source will reduce the amount of pollution emitted over their lands by power plants, and slow the strip mining of it ALL for shale oil and coal, along with using up EVERY DROP OF WATER to process the oil shale like in Canada. Just a thought.
Farasan Island is also a wildlife preserve. http://www.politicalforum.com/curre...-power-plant-comes-online.html#post1060997040
Man, the native Americans have had it rough. We've pushed them off of land continually if it had any useful resources to the point where they had no place to settle but useless desert. Now we've even found a use for the "useless" desert.
Well .. Farasan Island is the site of a massive solar installation and a wild life preserve. I expect the horny toads and tortoises will benefit from the intermittent shade cast by the solar panels in the Mohave.
Forgive me for my ignorance on this matter, but I cant find where this project has anything to do with Obama. It looks like these are the California Energy Commission's babies. I must be missing something because I know almost all posts on PF are completely true and anti-partisan
Maybe I'm just not seeing the information I'm looking for here, but where exactly is the connection to Obama? Taking a little browse through of where NextEra Energy's political contributions go, you can clearly see that most of their campaign contributions go to Republican candidates: http://www.ourcampaigns.com/FECCommitteeDetail.html?FECCommitteeID=1284 Again, I might be missing something here, but I'm failing to see the connection to the Obama administration. Native American reservations and holdings are managed by the tribe themselves under the Dept. of Interiors Bureau of Indian Affairs. It would seem to me that companies cannot just build wherever they want without the consent of the tribal council at the very least. Again, I just don't see how any of this can be connected to Obama. If so, can someone please enlighten me.
