I disagree. The insistence on assimilation -- which really means, "Do what I tell you!" -- is what causes separation. You try to tell people that they have to stop behaving the way their parents taught them to behave, and instead they should behave the way you want them to. Naturally that causes rifts and tension.

Unity comes from acceptance. Solidarity comes from tolerance. Multiculturalism is far more powerful than assimilation.

Actually it's quiet bi-partisan. Both sides passed the PATRIOT ACT, both sides have (*)(*)(*)(*)ed up the budget beyond belief, both sides don't bother to even try to tackle the deficit and in fact work to expand it. I could keep going but both the left and right are at fault for where we are today. The right continues to not care too. Ron Paul was the only candidate that was different than the rest. As is we're likely getting Romney, who may as well be Obama, who may as well be Bush. Without some radically new people in government, we're going to continue to slide off into nothing.

 

That's false. The Democratic Party opposed the Patriot Act and the FISA warrantless intercept extension when they didn't control the presidency. But they turned on a dime when Monkey King Obama replaced Chimp Bush.

I respectfully asked you to walk me through your logic. In doing so I was attempting to have a discussion with you. What you gave me was essentially a tweet devoid of analysis. Conclusions without analysis aren't meaningful.

 

Not really sure what you're saying here. I just posted voting records. It indicates Democrats voted for it in overwhelming numbers. They can say what they want, they voted for it.

 

As one who takes a liberal stance on foreign policy, I often say I don't hate muslims, just radical/fundamental Islam.

I don't blame all muslims for terrorism, and I don't want to see all of them defamed. I will, however, stand up against certain aspects of their religion that I think are morally wrong, even while I defend the majority of them, many of whom also stand up against certain aspects of their own religion.

 

The Patriot Act was opposed by most Democrats when it was originally enacted. They allowed the original Patriot Act to expire.

The the Democrats started worrying about the 2006 election. The Demos wanted to eliminate a campaign issue. So most Democrats voted for the extension of the Patriot Act they had opposed originally.

Then the Patriot Act expired again, and this time the Democrats owned the presidency. Thus, there was no controversy because the Democrats had nothing to gain by opposing further extension.

The Taliban are helping to defeat leftism by exposing their inability to conduct a successful war. The Taliban are defeating the leftists on a full spectrum basis. The humiliation and shame belong exclusively to the left.

The economy is sputtering as high oil prices cut off the economic recovery. Leftists own the price of fuel.

The American public schools produce students who can't compete with their foreign peers. The leftists own the education debacle because they control the schools.

The left refuses to abandon defined benefit pension plans for public sector workers. The unfunded liabilities will exacerbate govt. insolvency.

The City of Stockton, California is about to seek the protection of the bankruptcy court. We'll see much more local govt. bankruptcy in the future.
