I hate when liberals say they hate the 1% but support Obama...Do they not realize he is in the 1%?

The best thing Libersls & Progressives can do is just sit back and let the Conservatives talk and watch their actions.

Then watch the deny their own words and actions.

    Its funny.

Both liberals/progressives and conservatives impose stereotypes on one another.

I have a "conservative" side in the sense that I hate the way our welfare state is being run (in fact, I probably go beyond even what most righties would propose as to dealing with it), and don't support the minimum wage, and am against public unions, and most taxation except land value taxation.

I have a "liberal" side in the sense that I realize that many corporations deal with cronyism, such as Big Farm, Big Oil and..any company that uses oppressed labor to make it's products artificially cheap..not to mention, I'm not a private union hater. Plus..I'm a geoist as far as land goes.

I am a moderate, but how about this:

"I'm a conservative. All rich CEOs deserve every penny they have. Welfare recipients do not. Welfare recipients use political cronyism..yet..Big Farm and Big Car don't?"

"I'm a free market supporter. Yet I don't care about the cronyism that corporations participate in, and the fact that they often use oppressed labor in China. I only care about the freedom of business owners, not workers."

On a side note, I am a free market supporter. Doesn't make me a rightie.

    They're all wrong.

Liberals don't have a problem with Christianity, they just don't want to give Christianity special legal treatment. But most of us actually are Christians.

We believe in freedom of speech that offends us. That's a requirement. We'll argue with it, and sometimes people feel that being argued with is an infringement on their right to free speech, but they're wrong.

I don't use Apple computers myself (I'm too much of a gamer).

The Occupy movement is not 'protesting the 1%,' it's protesting against all the legal privileges that the 1% receives, and the fact that the economy is geared toward the benefit of that 1% at the expense of the other 99%.

Most liberals are conservative, straight, white people (I know someone's going to say that a liberal can't be conservative but that's pretty ridiculous). But again, it's basically like Christianity -- we just don't think that conservative, straight, white people should receive special treatment as they currently do.

And as for college -- what are the good alternatives? Should she be restricted to community college? No college at all? It's like voting for rich people -- there's no one else allowed to run.

The answer is that there is no way to catch people if no ID is required anyway.

ok, i like to poke fun at leftists, too.. here are some of my favorite lines:

If a conservative doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one. If a liberal doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.
If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat. If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.
If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation. A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.
If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels. Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down.
If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church. A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.
If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it. A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his. ~John J.Ray

“The Democrats seem to be basically nicer people, but they have demonstrated time and again that they have the management skills of celery. They're the kind of people who'd stop to help you change a flat, but would somehow manage to set your car on fire. I would be reluctant to entrust them with a Cuisinart, let alone the economy. The Republicans, on the other hand, would know how to fix your tire, but they wouldn't bother to stop because they'd want to be on time for Ugly Pants Night at the country club” ~Dave Barry

The Leftist motto: "I love humanity. It's just people I can't stand"

"Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has not heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains." ~Winston Churchill

Now it is only fair to provide a little bit of an opposite side.. but conservatives are used to being maligned, so it's not as funny. Leftists, otoh, can dish it out but don't seem to be able to take it.

A conservative is a man who believes that nothing should be done for the first time. ~Alfred E. Wiggam

A conservative is a man who sits and thinks, mostly sits. ~Woodrow Wilson

    ORLY?

How many anti-christian conservatives have you found on this site so far? Dont be afraid to name names.

Can you give me an example of a legal privilege that only the people in the top 1% incomes receive?

How about corporate cronyism that goes on? That doesn't necessarily apply to anyone that's in the statistical 1%, nor is that my point; my point is that righties generally overestimate corporate executives and other rich people who made a lot of money from government privilege.

Big Farm, Big Car/Big Car Insurance, and any company that uses oppressed labor (say, in China) are perfect examples.

I will however, say that we need to stop this over regulation on business that lefties generally support. That simply gives businesses an incentive to..not hire anybody.

Rich man if arrested (a rare event since police are bought off), gets out of jail in just a few hours, no matter how high the bail, because he can pay for it immediately. Sometimes it takes just a call to the judge or the Governor, or Senator, and all charges are dropped.

Poor man gets arrested, handcuffed behind, thrown in holding cell for 72 hrs, stays in jail because he cannot afford bail, and usually no other friend or family can afford a bail bondsmen. Sometimes, found dead, in a cell, (presumably suicide), especially if poor man was a witness to a Rich man crime).

So Rich guy commits murder, rapes, or rips off 10 million dollars, and is out in 1 hour, because he paid whatever bail, no matter how high, and then hires million dollar attorney to get the charges dropped, and attacks the victims reputation, the family, threatens their employers, and the police look the other way.

Poor man stole a slice of pizza, and because this is the 3rd time he stole a slice of pizza, he is kept in jail without bail, and will receive a mandatory 10 yr sentence. He will be found guilty very quickly, because his appointed public defence attorney has no motivation whatsoever to defend him, and is usually looking to expedite the case to help the prosecution.

Gee, SkullKrusher, that's seriously not bright. Kennedy nephew in prison for rape. The $1,000,000,000 fraud guy, Bernie Madoff, is in prison. The ex-governor of Illinois, hell, more than one, is in prison. And, I'm really sorry a nitwit decides to spend his third strike on stealing a slice of pizza but I assume he's a Democrat.

You attempt to say what legal benefit a rich person gets fails miserably.

Where's the third picture of all those people in the first picture getting free state IDs to ensure that they can still vote? Or do you just ignore Greg Abbott because he's a Republican (or perhaps because he's in a wheelchair.... how very insensitive of you)? He addressed this very issue on Huckabee the other night.

Explain how that is a LEGAL privilege.

That is not a legal privilege. That is a bias that you are claiming most rich people have. You are attempting to project your personal opinion as if it were objective fact.

You made a claim that you have failed to support.

And you are still doing it. You are still claiming they have some kind of nebulous "government privilege" yet you still fail to define it.

This is the kind of deception I often see from liberals. You people make these vague claims (which are basically personal opinions that you project as if they are facts) but cannot provide specifics.

Anyone who could provide bail money could do the same thing. It is not only the top 1% who are allowed to do that. That is not an example of a legal privilege.

And the whole point of the bail in the first place is to compensate the state if they have to go track down the person if they flee...bail is based on flight risk and the severity of the crime, not the income level of the accused. Many crimes have cheap bail or no bail at all. And in any event, this is entirely at the judge's discretion...it is not an actual "law" that he has to set a certain bail.

And you have determined that this is commonplace...how exactly?

    LOL!

Maybe after the first time he should have stopped stealing pizzia. Explain to me why that solution is insufficient.

I am a moderate with respect to left-right and a conservative (right-wing =/= conservative, which is what we see in Ron Paul for instance who is a moderate as far as left-right but conservative).

But inflation hurts the lower classes more than the upper classes, and government subsidies to Big Farm and probably a lot of other corporations, artificially increases the economic power gap between the "rich" and the middle/lower classes.

Many liberals like to describe themselves as moderates.

And you still did not explain how it was a LEGAL privilege. That appears to be a tacit admission that you were wrong.

You should read my first couple of posts on this very thread.

And it's perfectly legal to bail out the "big guys", since it happens. Maybe not constitutional, but legal nowadays.

I did. They did not include an explanation for your claim. Non-sequiturs are not a substitute for that explanation.

It is legal to bail out anyone, regardless of their income level. Income level is not a consideration when determining whether or not someone is allowed to be bailed out once the judge allows for bail.

How did you determine that bail is not constitutional?

If we're going to give welfare, it should at least be to people who need it, and the rich don't need it obviously. But this welfare state is becoming economically draining, I agree; that's one reason why I'm not actually leftist.

What does that have to do with legal privileges of the top 1%?

If anything it proves the exact opposite...people who make too much money do not qualify for welfare programs.
