Another crazy idea from the king of crazy. Paul wants to give federal public lands to the states or privatize them. Why? The Constitution specifically makes provision for federal public lands. Read the entire article and watch the video.

I dont see anything in your quote about privatizing them... What is wrong with a State owning the parks in... That state?

What's wrong with it? I don't disagree with this...State's should own their own land, not the Feds.

it would be cheaper if the states ran them , I say sell em all to the states or private trusts , except for national parks and land like that

i suspect much of the land would end up in the hands of mining interests and etc

Nowhere has Ron Paul ever said that he wants to privatize all public lands. Your thread title is misleading, which doesn't surprise me because you have been proven in the past to engage in fabrications in order to forward your radical neo-conservative agenda.

    Thread premised on a strawman.

There are several valid arguments for it. You may choose to be for or against it. Does not mean that those who don't agree with your views are crazy.

since you didn't address this to anyone in particular, i'll take it on

    i'm not mad, i'm glad

ron paul is the epitome of an ineffective politician

he hasn't been able to get his bills passed, he hasn't won a single state primary and he's lost two previous presidential runs

Why is this crazy? What difference does it make if State Governments are managing the lands, as opposed to the Federal Governments?

Seriously, wtf? Are you so frightened at the thought of the State Governments taking power away from Federal Governments?

Funny how being the only politician who won't lie to his constituents is correlated with being ineffective. Is it a negative comment on Ron Paul? Or is it a negative comment on the idiocy of the people who elect our officials.

    ron paul certainly does lie

in 1996 he defended the content of his newsletters

in 2007 he said he didn't write anything in them or even read them

it's a negative comment on the people that are so naive they don't know that ron paul's 'outreach to rednecks' was aimed squarely at them

I'll take an ineffective, honest, principled politician over a lying, pandering, scumbag any day of the week.

Far be it from the y-man to make Paul out to be anything like a paragon of sanity, but I'll be dammed if I can see anything wrong with the idea on its own merits.

The last thing I want to see is a Mcmansion development built in one of the Grand Canyon, Yosemite or Yellowstone national parks. Federal land ownership appears to be a somewhat effective deterrent to suburban sprawl.

The feds may only purchase land from a state for the purpose of erecting "needful buildings". Pretty sure >99% of BLM/Forest Service land doesn't qualify.

Ron Paul can be kooky at times, but this is an idea worthy of support.

Set aside military reservations and maybe the "crown jewel" National Parks then deed the rest of it to the states.

Get the feds out of the land management biz. Put more land on the tax rolls. Broadening the tax base is an OK idea.

the continued abuse of public land is bad enough without developers, mining interests and the like, getting their claws into it

Due to continued trespass and property destruction activities at Lake Cascade, the Bureau of Reclamation is requesting the public's help reporting trespass and abuse of public lands in and around the reservoir.

In the last five years, Reclamation has seen an increase in the dumping of garbage, boundary fence destruction, and firewood theft. According to Warren Sedlacek, Natural Resource Specialist at Reclamation's Cascade Field Station, monitoring and managing this recreation area has become more challenging due to rapid growth and development, reduced staff, and budget cuts.

I suggest your sense of priorities leaves quite a bit to be desired.
