Is structured to make it less usable.Far more difficult to easily recognize and post thoughts.I feel it was done under pressure to REDUCE the number of Posts being made and also to cause some Posters to lose interest. This place was re-invented not for the betterment of Posters but to their DETRIMENT.As a visible way to make posters feel less in charge and more at the mercy of having to squint and search around for past threads. I for one am not surprised.Someone higher up called the shots. Instead of having this place targetted for possible servor intimidation or removal it was told to make it less accessible and easy to use.
I dunno if it's that complicated, Foolie. More like a semi-interested owner trying to solve a technical problem by upgrading the software. We got a dump of the new version, then they went back to trying to solve the original problem. (Since we got "Database Error" this morning... it's obviously not going too good back there). Also obvious the mods have no control over the situation. Which means it's up to us to take it or leave it. Everything you said is true... I just don't think it's being done on purpose. Nobody connected with this site is that organized.
I'm finally getting used to the skin. Its not as "user friendly" in my opinion, but it is beginning to feel like home.
VB4 is certainly not as friendly as VB3...but it works better in some ways. Personally I hate default themes. It's so easy to upload a new theme that find it to be very lazy of those who keep the default vb theme. Can't say too much though as my community escaped to better software. A jump this community may make at some point...maybe...it was hard enough getting them to update.
Seems to be a right mess here at the moment. Have they gone for a cheaper server as most of the problems seem to be server related. I have been on a few forums that have been upgraded but never seen one done as bad as this one.
This new forum set-up has it's pros and cons. If it would WORK correctly, then maybe it'd be adequate.
Forum 4 Politics works a lot better and is much easier to use than this new design. Someone did not get their money's worth with these new upgrades.
New thread creation has been disabled on Forum 4 Politics, so you really don't have much choice... unless you're into reading and commenting on stale topics. This forum will self destruct in 3, 2, 1... (OK maybe not yet, but that's the direction we're heading)
Someone would get their money's worth if they'd rent a server strong enough to support this site. I don't know what you all are seeing...but when this site crashes I see a fatal error messages concerning memory come up. In short and simple terms the server doesn't have the memory available to support PF. The server is under-powered. The server probably didn't have enough memory either, they're probably the same crashes as before...but VB4 coded an error page to display this time. I'd say more but I'll get censored by the mods
If "someone" thought corrupt database and server issues would be solved through an upgrade, they invested in the wrong thang.
