hello , I'm taking up Golf . any help out there for a newbie duffer ? What's a good all-around set of clubs .... driver ? no woods . 200 yards. how about a putter ?
Go get fitted first. Fittings can range from free (promos) to $40. Golfsmith, Golf Galaxy, etc all offer fittings. Once you do that, try to find a set of used clubs that match your fitment; don't spend a bunch on a new set of clubs as a newbie golfer. Craigslist has tons of clubsets for sale for very little money: you can then decide if you like the game enough to keep playing it.
Finally a thread I can enjoy! Subdermal's advice is great, especially the used clubs. My advice is etiquette related: Be quiet when your partner is teeing off or putting! If you're playing slow, let the next group play through. I'll think of more stuff, I'm sure but I'm too tired right now. I'm sure when Rapunzel gets up, she'll have some sage advice too!
