Actually I met friends of a friend about 10 years ago, who casually did a little heroin and crack. I lived in an environment where drug use was common so was not naive, but I was surprised that they could do it this way. They had professional jobs etc... I didn't like them as people, but they were not the stereotype junkies. Saying that, I would not legalise seriously addictive drugs, I would all "party / social" drugs though.

A Dutch politician once famously observed:

"We should congratulate ourselves, we're succeeded in making cannabis boring".

And we know that people generally try alcohol before pot. So I presume you're also in favour of banning alcohol!

Yeah, what you're gonna find with stoners is that they hog the phoneline to the local pizza delivery and buy all the Mars bars from the all night opening shop.

Once again you hit the nail on the head. Where does this Rebellion live...in a cave? Alcohol causes way more accidents and deaths than pot ever will. Spend a Friday night in an ER. I have. Drunks in accidents come in and in bad shape. Never seen anyone OD on pot or having been injured by speeding and crashing a car after having smoked pot.

There is no doubt that some substances are more addictive than others, but its mostly a question of what came first, the chicken or the egg. Think about it.

There is no chicken or egg in the equation at all. It depends on how strong the addictive personality traits in the person involved are.

Don't use common sense. Drugs are bad for you, except for the ones that do absolutely nothing for you and are taxed.

    Skip ahead to 0:50.

Most hard drug users also drank under age. Alcohol is just as much of a gateway drug as weed.

You know what's funny? One thing I've noticed in this thread that people on here can agree on, people that normally disagree with each other about most everything else, is that bad drug policy is bad. :)

That leads me to believe, if someone was ever going to have a PF gettogether, we'd have to talk about drug policy, and that's about it. :)

I was a crack addict and I hate pot.

I started because I had I wanted an escape from life and booze was not enough. So first I tried coke and then I turned to crack.

And of the dozens of addicts I knew - not ONE of them ever started because of pot as a gateway. They just wanted to escape from life, thought they could handle crack, we're proved wrong and got hooked.

Anyone that says that pot is a gateway drug either never did serious drugs (meth, crack or heroin) or is SO pathetically weak that they probably have addictions to almost everything known to humankind - if not now...eventually.

    What a stupid thread.

Probably started by someone who has never done meth/crack/heroin in his/her life and thus does not have a CLUE what they are talking about.

Tobacco is a gateway drug, ban it fast.

Hmm...well, actually, you CAN and many people DO. Like, say, a guy that used cocaine or morphine DAILY for more than thirty years. All he did while addicted was to revolutionize medicine.

In that case, would you be for or against banning tobacco, alcohol, and caffeine?

They're good tippers when the pizza guy shows up, usually (though one guy offered me a hit off his bong as a tip...I declined). But the constant use of, "DUUUUUUUUUUUDE!" can get aggravating.

I know several people that smoked pot before smoking cigarettes, or that smoked pot and NEVER smoked cigarettes.
