This just shows how bad the US want Assange, and that the whole extradition from the UK to Sweden was a set up from the beginning; so he could be extradited from Sweden to the US.

If the UK and USA can do this to an Australian citizen requesting asylum in a foreign embassy, then Australians really need to think very hard about whether or not they have a TRUE valid alliance with the UK and USA.

The USA have treated Australians like idiot puppets for too long, and its time to finally take a stand.

Time for Australia NOT to place all its alliance eggs in one USA basket - time to seriously look at alternatives.

This BAD behaviour by the UK and USA is an outrage to Australian & Ecuadorian democracy, and highlights that they really DON’T think that much of us.

Right now, I see no difference between the USA and China, except China do it upfront and the USA do it underhandedly.

    Dear Ambassador,

As a private Australian citizen, I would personally like to thank the Ecuadorian Government and the Ecuadorian people for helping to fight for the legal rights of an Australian citizen in a foreign country.

It’s a sad and pathetic inditement on the Australian Government that they didn’t offer the same help and support for Mr. Assange, who is an Australian citizen.

Unfortunately, Australia seems to be a country not Governed by any political autonomy, but a country where its politicians still relies on their foreign “masters” approval and acceptance, before they are allowed to say and do anything.

Thank you for showing the world, and especially Australian “puppet” politicians that Ecuador and its people are not afraid to have the courage to fight for an individuals legal rights, regardless of who they are or what country they come form.

Hopefully, the Australian people can learn some valuable lessons from the courage and strength shown by the Ecuadorian Government and its people, and that one day soon, Australia will attract politicians who are no longer willing to be foreign “puppets” and who will fight to protect the interests of Australia and its citizens.

Thank you for reinforcing my code of values, in that, there are other individuals like the Ecuadorian people in our human community who are not simply willing to “bow ’n’ scrape” to the demands of the UK and the USA.

If the US wanted Assange they could have taken him anytime during the trial. Apparantly its easier for the US to do this in the UK then in those other countries. All this is just Assange's wet dream to escape criminal convictions and the media sucks it up. I call him the great white ape because he giving you all banana's.

But since when did the UK and the USA follow their own protocals?

They have assaulted more countries than any other nation.

Imagine if a bristish national was in someone's embassy in a foriegn country and that foriegn country said the same.

Can you imagine what they would be saying................................................

    Hypocrires the lotta them.

If this was a valid way to escape criminal convictions then everyone might as well try the same thing. People close each other's embassies all the time when they disagree on things. If the Ecuadorian's are going to interfere with UK Police matters then they might as well be kicked out of the country.

If Britain were to do this, other Embassies in the U.K. would no longer have a useful purpose. Embassies are sovereign territory and if this goes through, the British government would do well to first worn their Embassies abroad to start up the packing process as the little bit of credibility left in the U.K. would be gone too.

What's even more sickening is an Australian citizen seeking refuge in a 3rd world country.

really there is more to this story than we, the peons, are privy to. I think the best course of action would be for someone to knock this guy off and be done with it.
