    Interesting that this came out

    10 worst states to retire..

Here are the 10 worst states for retirement, with No. 1 being the lowest-ranked, according to Money-Rates.com:

    10. Wisconsin
    9. New York
    8. Washington
    7. Rhode Island
    6. Maryland
    5. Alaska
    4. Connecticut
    3. Massachusetts
    2. Michigan
    1. Maine

See if any of the Obama people tout their state as GREAT to retire to...

See if Their Mayor from San Antonio speaks about raising property taxes and sales taxes to pay for higher teacher pay.

See if any Champion the higher gas prices as removing our need for oil.

And by the way... see if any mention FORD is adding a 3rd shift in Louisville to build a NON BAILED out FORD ESCAPE..instead of the phony 3rd shift increase to build chevy trucks.

All the so called auto rebound is for SUVs ..Trucks..NOT THE CHEVY VOLT.

    Obama picked another LOSER..
    'We can do better

    Less than 65 days remain.

I couldn't help but notice that all ten of those states are snow-belt states. Do you think maybe arthritis and brittle bones make those states bad places to retire to?

    http://www.money-rates.com/research-center/worst-states-for-retirement

    Economic factors
    Climate
    Life expectancy
    Crime rate

Economics determined 47 percent of a state's final score, climate accounted for 33 percent, life expectancy determined 12 percent and crime accounted for 8 percent.

    No. 10: Wisconsin

Why it's in the bottom 10: Unfortunately, Wisconsin had decent scores in two areas that readers said should receive less emphasis, and did poorly in the more heavily weighted areas of economics and climate.

Economic factors: Wisconsin's real downfall in this category is having the second-highest tax burden in the country, after adjusting for retirement exemptions.

    End quote..

High taxes.. cost of living.. Wisconsin CHANGED FOR A REASON..

    See North and South Dakota

I doubt the NE will ever Change anything until someone points out their leadership Sucks.

Personally I like the warm beaches of Mexico..or Hawaii.. :)

Do you include Mitt Romney in that NE leadership category?

I already live in Arizona so I'm doing everything I can to make my state LESS attractive to retirees. We got more useless retirees than we have illegal immigrants.

You must be close personal friends with Jan Brewer, eh? Gotta wonder what a die-hard lefty is doing in the middle of the desert in Arizona.

Nice stereotyping, but OldTimer who posts here retired to Jackson, WY from Las Vegas 'cuz they were sick of the heat. Notice WY isn't on the list.

Funny, my Great Uncle and Aunt go to Florida every winter. How many old people do you think live there? And to explain why, because everyone has differnt tastes. Me, I can't stand extremes while you live in Texas.

I am a washingtonian and most people I know in the western half that come here love this state but its too cold and wet during the winter and that is why older folks perfer to go south during that time.

I do not need a study to figure out this simple fact.

Arizona is getting more blue every day thanks to Brewer and Arpaio, our twin embarrassments. And, actually, Brewer is not an Arizonan. I am.

    Yeeeep ..

    Everything is political

Funny how all those Latinos chose Minnesota as the best place to retire.

Who in their right mind would live in the valley of the sun ? ;)

Heck I live in NY, nobody can retire here, the tax's are through the roof. They chase seniors out, they only want the money makers and those to suck off them. If you are old and cant contribute to their base,,,YOUR OUT!!

New York is a very expensive state to maintain. A mile of roadway in Manhattan has to cost 1000x what a mile of roadway would cost in Hogswaller, Texas.

    Sure, that must be it........LOL

My office manager [a Latino], she told me as soon as many come in to our country they look for the States that gives them the most, NY and California are favorites. Many will purposely leave one state to go to another that offers more, or has a more lenient welfare acceptance. NY checks nobody she says,,,just apply and if you are a minority your in..

Dont get me wrong, it's not just them, not by a long shot! The state workers and their benefits has plenty to do with it. Do you think these old folks want to leave their friends and family just because of weather? My taxes went from 4500 to almost 30,000 in 28 years,,,that's like an official OUT,,OUT,,OUT!!! and seniors hardly get any consideration, if they wanted them to stay why dont they give them a huge break in their tax's,,,,why???
Because they want the young worker to support their agenda,,,that's why!!

They are horrible to the seniors, these people lived their entire working lives here, now they are all forced to leave. TERRIBLE!!!

Living in one of the highest cost of living state is tough on a fixed income.

What would you have them do about it? The elderly are already the biggest drain on tax dollars.

I can't speak to whether they WANT to or not, but it is definitely happening. Usually a fall on the ice and a few pins in the hip bone is the deciding factor.
