While waiting on Brewskier to give me a topic, I thought I would pick one. Sure its from Russia Today, but it's not like MSNBC will hose Obama on this issue. So this little story is all about the man who promised to close Gitmo suddenly liking the idea of happy camps where people can go sit indefinitely, although I'm not sure that work can make free in this case, but...

You cannot trust big government types to want to give up handy dandy little unconstitutional powers like this. Note who appointed the judges. ;)

Clearly Obama is trying to appeal to the conservative vote.

This is disgraceful. This country has no hope left. We're governed by lawless criminals.

Boo. I'm ashamed that we haven't learned yet. We did the exact same thing during WWI. History might repeat, but it's up to us to make sure it doesn't as well.

This isn't about left vs right. They're all in it together. Until mindless progressives and neocons figure that out, we're doomed.

God help us! the whole country, right and left, should be standing up and saying NO MORE to this constant transgression on our liberties. First Bush and now Obama taking it even further. We should be afraid of these people and get our country back before its too late.

Yes. we should, but people are too afraid to do it. It takes admitting that the farmer and the sheep dog work together. Right now they have everyone so fearful they will just vote party line as usual. It's all about scaring people into the direction they want you to go: Mitt Romney hates the poor and will take away food stamps and children will starve. Barak Obama is a Muslim. Blah blah. We see it every day and the truth is that both of these guys were picked for us so that we have a choice between white globalist and black globalist and no nationalists.

"big government types"?? Are you suggesting that Romney will NOT do anything he can to keep this particular power? Or the Republicans in general?

Get real. The fight over this abuse is between regular citizens and their congress.

Lets not forget this law is also the fault of Congress. I have committed to NEVER vote for anyone who voted for this bill or signed it into law ever again no matter what party they are in or who the other candidates are. I will also never vote for any politician who is stupid enough to say they support it whether they are a local politician or a national candidate that wasnt in office when this was voted on. People need to wake up and hold their congressmen and congresswomen accountable for their voting records no matter what your party affiliation. The problem is that Senators and Representatives win re-election based on name recognition way too often. Everyone should review the voting records of their representatives on any bills that you find wrong and make them pay for it. If you hate Obamacare...Dont vote for anyone who voted for it. If you want to see election campaign reforms...Dont vote for the guys that voted against it. Send them a letter or an email telling them they have lost your support forever and why.

I would like to highlight your comment for people who think that we libertarians love Obama, so thank you for thinking inside the box and that I'm a Romney supporter.

Actually, I don't think Romney will do dick about it because he's a big government type, too.

I just started a thread about this a few minutes ago, didn't see yours when I started mine; thats not the point though, in mine I linked to the Repubs favored stooge:

I love how the two party sheep always assume anyone who doesn't support their guy belongs in the other corral.

It irritates me to know in that we have to go to Russian or British news sites to find out what's going on in our own country. Our media is worse than Pravda or Izvestia in the old Soviet days. At least those reporters wanted to tell what was going on and tried to sneak it in past the censors. Our reporters are the censors. They censor not because they have to, but because they really want to.

They really do love Big Brother.

This is sadly, true. Whats worse is that this:

    H.R.5736 -- Smith-Mundt Modernization Act of 2012 (Introduced in House - IH)

    HR 5736 IH

    112th CONGRESS

    2d Session

    H. R. 5736

To amend the United States Information and Educational Exchange Act of 1948 to authorize the domestic dissemination of information and material about the United States intended primarily for foreign audiences, and for other purposes.

When you read the fine print means that the government can distribute "propaganda" (ie "lies") to US citizens that is pro-government in nature and this was a bipartisan effort.

I wonder what % of the country knows and understands NDAA? I would guesstimate 30%...

I think you're being kinda. People don't realize all of the weird things they put in a "Defense" authorization act. For that matter, the new bipartisan cybersecurity also contains gun control measures. No magazines over 10 or 15, I think. Can't remember I just remember that it was stupid making a cybersecurity bill about gun control.

    (*)(*)(*)(*) Schumer.

your probably right. I wish Americans would get mad about NDAA like the Muslims do when someone makes fun out of their prophet. How awesome that would be.

Move along, please. Nothing to see here. Just keep (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)ing about how much Romney hates the lower classes...as if we didn't already know that.

RT is the Russian state news arm. Also, it didn't tell you this:

US citizens' due process rights saved from the NDAA's indefinite detention

Thanks to determined citizens and a stalwart judge, American liberty is preserved from the NDAA's most Orwellian provision
