I don't appreciate most horror films, they're usually a lot of predictable, hammy, plotless old tosh although they can be fun. But there are some which pander to deviance and violence which should really not be pandered to. I don't see the point, for example, of films like The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo. While not strictly a horror film, it's a bunch of weird deviance from beginning to end. Up there with that other lot of written tosh, 50 Shades of Grey. I sincerely hope this recent plague of weirdo nastiness does not precipitate a surge of societal nastiness. People are so stupid in how they slavishly follow even the most dangerous of trends. And we're in enough trouble already without that kind of crap catching on.

Oh wow! I forgot about "Burnt Offerings!" I saw that when I was maybe..10 or 11? I cannot believe I was taken to see that by my parents! I hide behind my step-dad the whole time almost...of course I looked at the screen just in time to see that driver in the old car pulling up to the house, I had nightmare's for a lonnnng time after that! That and just Karen Black's face were the scariest parts of the movie! I have loved Oliver Reed ever since I saw this movie...he was a class act, loved him in "The Gladiator"

    LOL...

I decided to finally give that a whirl last night...

I spent about 30 minutes absolutely amazed at how overboard everything went...

But, it was funny in a strange way...

The first movie my kids watched that creep'd them out was "The Sixth Sense" They loved it! Must run in the family I guess....they also watched the movie "Signs" and "The Others" a hundred times since being turned on to the genre.

    The Sixth Sense is awesome...

The Others is a good movie, albeit, kind of slow...

I, personally, can't stand Signs, and, TBH, I don't like most things involving M. Night Shenanigans, w/ the exception of The Sixth Sense...

A lot of people like Signs...

I, personally, thought it was boring...

But, as always, it'd probably be best to check it out and formulate your own opinion, because, well, you know critics...lol

One of the worst movies I have ever seen. I nearly walked out of the theater I was so bored.

Crop Circles are a really cool vehicle for mystery/horror/extraterrestrial, so how Shamamlamdingdong could make it soooooo stupid is beyond me. It's tragically bad and laughable, and not so funny it's cool or fun, so funny it's retarded.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You were right the first time. It's not just a bad movie, it's 90 minutes of your life you could better spend pulling out your own fingernails.

Completely agree...a lot of people I've talked to said they hated it. It was really done well. One of the best remakes I've ever seen...

The 2nd one was crap though...

Are you kidding? The worst movie ever? No way! It was clever I thought....and there were scary parts, like when it was standing on the roof. I also like the humor in it...Gibson and Phoenix were awesome together, and both kids were adorable! That was filmed not far from me...pretty cool.

Honestly I can't believe you think it was that bad!

Absolutely by far the best theme music ever written!! Also the "one two Freddy's coming for you" from Nightmare on Elm Street...love that too! The saw theme was good as well.

    Ah, yes...

    Hello Zep...

I'm currently finishing a light show for a friends yard haunt for this particular song...

    I love it...

Other good themes are from Dead Silence, Scream, and one my favorite horror anthology movies, Trick 'r Treat...

Yea Scream was good as well...not familiar with the other two. I know it's not exactly a horror movie, but there was definitely something very scary about the "Jaws" theme probably my second favorite theme's of all time.

Actually perhaps the only time (I've watched virtually every horror I could ever find) I've ever seriously been freaked out, was during a drama called 'The Eclipse.' Its an ok movie, but it had one particular scene that was so unexpected I literally flew back in my seat when I watched it. Granted I was tired at the time, but I'll never forget that moment. Aside from that, the American remake of the Ring wasnt bad. I usually watch horrors expecting one or two scenes that might be fairly scary or creepy, and I like films with good atmosphere even when they aren't particularly scary - like Polanski's The Tenant.
Yeah, I love horror. I still plan to film something when I get the time and money. Anyway, great thread.

Watch it as if you were intending to watch a long drama.
