Romney looked like he ate his Wheaties, and Obama looked like he needed some prunes or a plan "B" set of talking points.
I hear ya. All I know is that I've waited four long years for a good arse whooping. Let me enjoy it for just one night, won't ya?
Romney can't help but look a little creepy, it's just who he is, however, he looked confident instead of looking half dead. Considering the record of poo that Obama had to defend, I would say he did a remarkable job looking upbeat. I'm thinking that he does drugs.
Romney but it was no knock out tonight. The fight is not over. Lets see how it moves the poll numbers.
Obama and Michelle are the ones who voted. Then they had to go so they could beat the sh!t out of his advisors.
I agree definitely not a knock out. Obama put up a fair performance. I'd like to see more energy and more hit backs from him in the next debate. He seemed more energetic in 2008. But then again he was facing a 72 year old man.
I purposely avoided the spin doctors. Went immediately to Intrade (betting odds) and Twitter. This was a clear cut knockout for Romney.
Obama, Obama intentionally step back to bait Romney into committing now that Romney have made some commitment that include introducing Romney's health plan that is identical to the Obama-care will now get Romney into trouble with his own conservative supporters. Obama explain very well his position and the progress of the USA that Obama is for America while Romney is for the corporation.
A knockout means that the contest is over. Romney was too far behind for one debate win to completely knock the president out of the contest. Don't over exaggerate this win. Few presidential challengers have come from as far back as Romney is now to win in the end.
I'm going to predict that by the time the VP debates happen next week Romney will get a 1 or 2 point bump in the polls. This will not be enough to put him ahead.
Romney looked more presidential; sounded more presidential; knew his facts and presented them well; was congenial and respectful but aggressive. Even CNN and MSNBC said he won decisively. There was no denying it.
I figured that this would be Obama's weakest debate of the three since it is focused on the economy which hurts Obama. However, I didn't think it would be like this. Even the people on MSNBC and Current TV are finding it impossible to spin this in Obama's favor. Chris "I have an Obama blow up sex doll and perform fellatio on it every morning" Matthews was apopleptic about Obama's performance. I haven't seen alot of Romney's debates but he hit a 5 run homer out of the park into the parking lot. Obama looked like he just completely gave up and was only repeating talking points. I think they may have just assumed that Romney would win this debate and told Obama to be cautious and just don't say anything stupid. The problem is that Paul Ryan will probably clobber Biden and the last debate is on foreign policy which will also be in Romney's favor especially after recent events. Obama also made a huge gaffe when he said, paraphrasing "You implemented your health care law, which is the same as Obamacare and it it worked just fine and you didn't lose jobs in Massachusetts." They had run lots of adds about how Romney supposedly had poor jobs performance in his state and in that one sentence Obama just threw away that narrative forever. If they try and run another add about Romney's job record when he was governor the Republicans will just run that clip of Obama during the debate. I thought that was a very big mistake on Obama's part. Romney missed a perfect opportunity when Obama brought up Clinton's economy to point out that under Clinton they had four years of balances budgets..........not ginormous deficit spending every year. Clinton's economy policy is nothing at all like Obama's economy at all. Debates in the end usually don't make or break elections with rare exceptions like Ronald Reagans final debate but if Obama continues to have performances this bad and Romney keeps having outstanding performances like this I think these debates will in fact determine the election.
Romeny won, but he won by radically shifting back into the centrist of old who won the governorship of Massachusetts. The extreme right wing rhetoric he used to try to win over the base in the primaries was gone. He was all thoughtful moderate positions, and NO far right wing rhetoric. In making that shift, I think this was the reinvention he needed!! He was NEVER going to win appealing to the base, because the base has ideas that are incredibly unpopular with the average voter, so he needed this shift to get back into the race.
Obama was beaten decisively in the first 30 minutes of the debate when Romney dealt him a knock-out brow on the economy and the federal deficit and Obama was caught off guard and he could never gain the upper hand in the entire debate. The format and topics of the first presidential debate strongly favoured Romney and it's expected that polls would tighten further in the next few weeks and Obama's post-convention bounce would be wiped out but Obama may have a second chance to recover from this defeat in other debates. It was pretty much the same Romney we have seen for the last 12 years...... ...well except the part where he kicked the crap out of Obama.....that was new. . .
Obama came out of the stand first after the debate to shake his opponent's hand mercifullly and you can see that he steps forward to Romney meaning he has a spacial advantage over the GOP candidate. But Obama gave his opponent enough space to manoeuvre in the hopes he will make a mistake which he hasn't done yet but the race is not finished.
