Yet, Columbus Day is named after a man, Christopher Columbus.

Interesting how your argument contradicts itself right out the gate.

It celebrates him because of his discovery of the New World, not his slavery, or murders, or whatnot.

I bet you think that Volkswagen Beetle owners are "celebrating Hitler's genocide" just because the car was invented in Nazi Germany.

Making a foolish promise was where the honor and integrity was lost, we should apologize to America for making such an honorless promise, and undo our mistake, and abolish the reservations, race-based scholarships and welfare, etc.

It wasn't a foolish promise. It was a treaty ending a war. **double eyeroll**

It was a foolish promise indeed - it should've been made with an expiration date which would end after the current generation of Native Americans at the time had passed away. It's liberal, racist, pro-moocher class, anti-personal responsibility, and a slap in the face of the American people.

Not sure how you can call yourself a libertarian, if you support something like this - it's pure affirmative action, the polar opposite of libertarianism.

So you support anti-libertarian, racist, pro-affirmative action policies just because of a "treaty" which never should've been made to begin with? Sounds more liberal-tarian to me.

Who cares about "never should have done"? We did. Now, we deal with it. I support freedom. I support limited government. This is not the same thing as welfare but I don't feel like getting into it on this thread because your posts previous to this one means it will be a long, drawn-out, exasperating ordeal that ends with nothing.

Giving Indians free money and telling them they can't cope in the white man's world is a form of mental abuse.

We should throw them all off the reservations and allow them to fend for themselves.

Volkswagan owners do not celebrate a Nazi's birthday. Your argument is moot.

Also, I am glad to see you moved the goals posts to admit that the day is a celebration of Christopher Columbus.

How is it moot? You claimed he was responsible for maiming and raping. Are you claiming ignorance or outright dishonesty on this one? Let's see. So far you've accused Columbus of genocide which was an outright lie, and you've accused him of being responsible for maiming, raping, killing and enslavement of the Native Americans. I am guessing you got in way over your head when you decided to exaggerate and lie about what Columbus did and weren't expecting anyone to call you on your dishonesty.

If you're saying that any historical figure who commited acts which today would be considered evil shouldn't be celebrated, then that applies to everyone - it applies to the Founders (because they kept slaves), it applies to Charles Darwin (because he held views now considered racist), etc

If it bothers you that much, then go campaign to have it changed to "New World Day" or something, but it's about as big a non issue as they come except to those who can't get over their "let's hate big bad whitey" complex.

The oath doesn't apply, because the generation of natives to whom the oath was made are now deceased.

Shut down the reservations, and flush the stupid "oath" down the toilet. And apologize to God for having made such a wrong "oath" to begin with - maybe he'll forgive us for our racist stupidity.

First there is no proof infected blankets were give to the Indians. There was some talk of it, by the Brits, during the French/Indianian war, two hundred years after Columbus. But no solid evidence. But I am sure Columbus was to blamed. Liberal apologist are just plain hysterical and silly.

You need to learn the difference between conquest and theft. People groups conquer and than they are conquered. Its not stealing. To the victor go the spoils.

Germs weren't even discovered until 100s of years later, so the thread is an outright lie.

No Europeans ever intentionally infected Indians with disease - there was no 'genocide', fact.

That'd be like Europeans blaming the Chinese for "genocide" just because the Black Plague originated in China.

Fallacy. They didn't have to know what germs were to know that blankets and clothing spread disease. Read up on the black plague in Italy some time.

Not at all, they had no . It wasn't even until the 1800s that people knew that washing their hands prevented infections. The Europeans didn't even know that they carried the disease, let alone that they could spread it to others.

It's not the Europeans fault that the Natives had inferior immune systems.

He never made the oath, so he can't break an oath that he never made. Break the non-existant oath, abolish the reservations, and teach the moochers to re-integrate instead of voluntarily segregate, and to quit blaming whitey for the fact that they waste their money on cheep booze and slot machines. Even with the exhoribant welfare they unjustly get, most of them live in poverty - that's what happens when people aren't trained to fend for themselves and expect some "big daddy govt" to give them everything on a platter just because of their skin color.
