Actually it was Romney who dragged this grieving mother’s (without inverted commas) son into the political arena. Yet Romney (or his advisors) seems to have a better sense of what is generally perceived as basic human decency when replying to this woman’s request than his followership in this thread does. Maybe you’d do him a better favour if you just shut up.

Having a son myself, hard to fathom any mother could disregard the facts of her son's death under these circumstances and still support his commander .... but they're out there w/what you said, this sickness....... it sure is.

Thanks. I forgot about this despicable crap that Obama pulled....... he's pulled so much, hard to keep track.....

I remember maybe about a yr ago watching some event where Obama was awarding some soldiers w/medals. He called the name of a serviceman .... well, that soldier had died the previous yr, which Obama wasn't aware of... you'd think his staff would have known....

Have never seen anything like this President "CORPSEmen"......

I don't like Romney but he can talk about the Soldier if he wants to. The Soldier was property of the nation and as such anyone can speak about him. If momma doesn't like it, too bad.

I can agree, but he was an ex-soldier. An ex-SEAL. He was a "contractor" at the time of his demise. A hired gun.

I mean him no disrespect. Not at all. Just wanted to clarify for you.

Actually Glen Doherty's notoriety came from plying his trade in a consulate in Benghazi
that was overwhelmed in an attack because security warnings had been ignored by the Obama administration.

I understand why Mrs. Doherty, in her partisan state of mind, doesn't want Obama "degraded" by even mentioning her son's name because it only reminds voters how Obama's State Department screwed things up and neligently contributed to his death.
Are we supposed to make believe Benghazi never happened?

The fellowship in this thread, at least some of us, realizes the fine line between basic human decency and someone using her son's death to politically attack a foe. Once again, like with Cindy Shehan, this is a woman cynically using the death of her son to make political attacks.

If she said no one should publicly use her son's name, that would be one thing. But to specifically announce she does not trust Romney, that Obama is being "degraded", and declare his memory off limits (though Romney has every right in the world to refer to someone he has had social contact with), well, that's another.

That will not happen until I decide it's time to drop the matter. And with rude posts like yours, that may not be soon.

WRONG! ..... he was her son and if she doesn't want a politician using his name in public, then her wishes should be respected.....

Other than that, I hope she doesn't turn into another Cindy Sheehan....

From a practical matter he was useless so he should have bailed a long time ago. He was on the ground in a hostile environment. He should have been packing. If he wasn't allowed to carry then he was foolish for staying.

Diplomats and body guards get attacked and killed all the time. It's expected. It's the cost of doing business with lunatics.

BTW, how many additional people should have been sent to each embassy and consulate, 16,000 troops to each one? The Repubs don't want to pay taxes so why are they whining?

I'm glad to see not all people in this thread have lost their entire sense for basic decency only because an election is due.

Tonight on OutFront, CNN’s Erin Burnett spoke toKate Quigley, the sister of former Navy SEAL Glen Doherty who was killed in this year's Sept. 11 attacks in Benghazi, Libya. Burnett asked Quigley if she shared her mother’s anger towards Gov. Mitt Romney for speaking about having met Doherty in a campaign speech.
Quigley said: “I don’t, and my mother is angry, and she’s grieving. The fact of the matter is what Governor Mitt Romney said about my brother Glen is true, and he called him a hero and we’re honored by that”.

I wonder if the dead soldiers’ mother would tell you to shut up and use not her dead soldier son used for political purposes.

This story is similar to the Pat Tillman story where Mr. Tillman's parents criticized the current administration at that time. Or we can say the same thing with most of the family of Casey Sheehan.

Yes, because we all know that Romney, in the true spirit of altruism, mentioned the dead soldier with absolutely no intention of political gain. The soldier's mother was right; you don't show respect by cynically invoking the names of the dead.

I hear Romney doesn't like black licorice, maybe you should start a thread saying how racist Romney is for not liking black licorice. (*)(*)(*)(*)ing pathetically desperate

Obama is a thug politician and would do anything to get re-elected, but the lemmings like you would say and do anything to get him re-elected is unbelievably cult like.

Romney apologized and moved on, you should do the same......but you won't.

That's a Republican characteristic, it appears. Bush did the same thing with Pat Tillman until Tillman's brother told him to ****. Republicans don't want to serve, they just want to patronize and exploit.

Romney supposedly met the guy at a Christmas party in San Diego. He didn't KNOW him. And it certainly didn't "break his heart" when he heard of the death. Romney's got no class.

Hmm, act first, think later. Seems Romney does this all the time. And you want that kind of stupidity in a president?

EVERYONE is talking about her son. He was one of 4 killed in a terrorist attack. There was nothing wrong with Romney bringing up a personal interaction with him. If I knew him, I would do the same. I greatly respect that he is going to adhere to the wishes of the grieving mother. End of story. Or maybe the real story is how the left cannot find SQUAT on Romney and are freaking out that the country is warming to him. The next 4 weeks are going to be quite entertaining.

I have no interest in your presidents other than as an interested, impartial observer. You want another idiot as POTUS? Knock yourselves out.
