Hi all I'm a European Communist with an interest in the destruction of capitalism. I notice this is quite a US-centric forum so I would say that Obama is far too conservative for my tastes and I honestly don't understand the Republicans Anymore. This is a party (GOP) with an extensive history of liberal (in the proper sense of the word - remember I'm from Europe!) pragmatic politics; but now increasingly it seems to look like an American Taliban. I wonder what old school Republicans think about their party being hijacked by extreme right-wing, economically illiterate, religious fundamentalist nutjobs? Is there much opposition to this within the Republican party and are there not a lot of Republicans that want to take back their party from the crazy nutjobs?
I'm new too, I don't think it is very very very right wing ....better than most and nicely cosmopolitain. Hi
Some threads I've seen do appear a little right wing of loonvillve insanetown - hopefully I may help bring some balance, as with the best will in the world, no amount of nice, liberal leaning Democrats will balance out all the tea party crazy!
There's no hatred involved. I have long had respectful; agonistic debates with conservatives. However recently the GOP seems to be increasingly resembling the Taliban than the party of Lincoln or Eisenhower - Just saying

Welcome Isn't it odd that your avatar says: Power to the people, but communism wasn't power to the people at all? ('nazism' the same, both pure evil) Because both 'communism' and 'nazism' are labels to blind people from reality, empire was/is reality (count the number of empires over the last couple of thousands of years. The Sovjet Union was an empire, nazi Germany aka Third reich was an empire (union, reich, league, all the same, empire), the European Union is a fake 'empire' which they are going to collapse (via economy and capitalism, currently going on with Greece and Spain, system is bringing the masses in revolution, economy used as revolutionary weapon against population/freedom) and that will cause 'nationalism' and 'socialism', Germany became an empire via 'nationalism' and 'socialism') Politics/ideology is full of labels (used against the free thought/mind, to take away free and clear thinking)
Well I don't agree with you politically, but I fully support you expressing you opinion on here as often as you wish and certainly hope that everyone else does as well. Welcome.
Certainly the USSR was a complete failure - no arguments there. My aim is to take the derogatory label 'communist' and re-vamp it - like the Gay community did with 'queer'. For me to be communist simply means to still strive for a better system than capitalism. Thus I would say you are either a Fukuyamist or a communist.
Welcome to the forum. You said the C word. You must know it's a bad word to most US posters due to their history, don't hold it against them.
Welcome Marxist Nutter, nice to see another European here. Good luck with your attempts at understanding American society - I gave that up yonks ago. There is more than an ocean dividing Europe from the USA. But, seriously, Americans are basically decent, welcoming, and generous people, (if somewhat naive) and I like most of them very much. Having said that, there is no way I would ever want to live there - but that is an indictment of the system, not the people. I get the impression (from your post) that your view of Americans is a little simplistic and somewhat extreme (try to get to know some Americans personally). As for the destruction of capitalism; I would tend to agree with the destruction of unfettered and unregulated capitalism, but free enterprise capitalism, leavened with a generous helping of socialism, has proven to be one of the most successful combinations, both economically and sociologically, across the globe. Anyway, welcome to the board.
