Well it seems Romney's attempt at a big jab against Obama fell flat on its face when Romney has been proven yet again as a blatant liar. Chrysler has no plans to move jobs to China and every one of Romney's claims has not been documented as lies. Sorry republicans there is no spinning this Mitt is a liar and a flip flopper. Obama saved the America auto industry while Romney wanted them to go bankrupt.
mmmmmmm, avoid the topic are Jeeps slated to be built in Italy and then imported to the USA? "Obama doesn't pick winners and losers; he picks losers".
I don't think Romney ever said in the ad that they were moving production from the US. He just said that Chrysler/Fiat is considering building Jeeps in China. Listen, I understand business and this really isn't a big deal but I don't blame the Romney campaign for trying to capitalize when the Obama campaign is constantly accusing him of outsourcing jobs when he's not even in an executive position with Bain anymore. Truth is Chrysler is more closely linked with Obama than any current Bain companies are linked to Romney. European companies are subsidized by their governments and they have strong unions. In hard economic times there is a mandate to pull all jobs possible back to the country where the company is headquartered. I work for a European company and live under the constant threat. Don't be surprised to see some Chrysler jobs go to Italy.
The issue regarding moving production to China that has gone viral includes a 30-second spot that shows cars being crushed as a narrator says Obama “sold Chrysler to Italians who are going to build Jeeps in China. Mitt Romney will fight for every American job.” Chrysler's response was "despite clear and accurate reporting, the take has given birth to a number of stories making readers believe that Chrysler plans to shift all Jeep production to China from North America, and therefore idle assembly lines and U.S. workforce,” Gaulberto Ranieri, a senior vice president for corporate communications, wrote in an Oct. 25 blog post on Chrysler’s website. “It is a leap that would be difficult even for professional circus acrobats.” The company has no intention of abandoning its North America production, Ranieri wrote. “A careful and unbiased reading of the Bloomberg take would have saved unnecessary fantasies and extravagant comments.”
